For once I’m going to give Blackpool’s council some credit. I was on the promenade a couple of days ago and I am actually quite impressed with the construction that has taken place there. It’s still a work in progress, but what is complete has provided a large, flat, open space on the promenade with a nice surface and some modern railings. Yes it’s nothing that foreign destinations don’t have, but it’s nice to see Blackpool putting some money in to improve the quality of the place.
The tram tracks all looked old though: I would have thought given the £100million project to renew it that they would have done this at the same time.
One disappointment was the fact that I had to walk about a kilometre to pay to park on the promenade since two meters next to each other were out of order. If anyone from the Council’s reading, it’s the two opposite Yates’ at the end of Waterloo Road.
Finally, I was amused by the rubbish bins with BLACKPOOL emblazoned upon them. Somewhat apt given the number of drunks terrorising the streets I thought.
