I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but in the media of late there has been an influx of advertisements coaxing people to mail off their gold jewellery for instant cash. You may have seen them, Cash 4 Gold, Gold 4 Cash, and so on. Even the mainstream jewellers are getting in on this; I heard on the radio yesterday an advertisement for H Samuels’ cash for gold scheme.
There is obviously a lot of profit involved given the speed at which companies have jumped on this idea. Clearly, those that send off their gold will get a fraction of what the original item was or indeed is worth, but what has encouraged this sudden gold rush?
The cash for gold adverts remind me of the Ocean Finance type of ad; slotted in during the Loose Women advert breaks, promising “free” money to the bored single mother on benefits sat at home vegetating in front of the TV shovelling family packets of Sensations in their mouth.
Has the price of gold skyrocketed, or is this just a scheme to prey on people that are finding times hard in the recession?

The price of Gold went over £1,000 an OUNCE recently. The money men have lost faith in the US dollar.

Time to sell and not to buy as it must be close to tipping point. Last time there was a gold price increase like this when the tipping point came in lost 50%.

Was that the point at which Gordon decided to relieve the UK of its reserves?

No that was an artificial tipping point better know as the Gordon Factor.

Love this blog Phil and not posting about the above as I am so bloody incensed with that shitty f***ing B*****d shower of shit they call the Gazette. Has anyone any idea who it or they are that delete quite reasonable comments?
Sorry!

I wish I knew so I could send a virus permanently disabling their computer. I had an email the other week from Johnston Press claiming they are attempting to trace an IP address, how hard can it be? The bastard(s) comes on at the same fucking time everyday. I think there is more than one cunt doing it. Yesterday at the usual time of 1300-1400 comments were deleted but only MINE. Then later all the others disappeared. Mine were restored because I angrily contacted the Gazette to have them put back. What really fucks me off is those obnoxious Labour loving tosspots ‘cardy’ and ‘frustrated of blackpool’ accusing me of deleting comments. I have NOT deleted anyone’s comments. I don’t agree with their silly comments but I DO NOT go around deleting just because I don’t agree. Those two need to learn to respect other people’s views not slag them off.

hear hear i could not agree more TB
