Busy as ever

If you wondered why you never see Police on the streets, or why Blackpool is the violent crime capital of the North West, here is your answer.

Behold, mounted Police tossing it off under Lonsdale Coach Station’s shelter. If they’re scared of a bit of rain, it’s no wonder criminals have the freedom of the town.

Remember this picture when you’re next told that they’re too busy.

"When's tea break, mate?"

Instead of pursuing real criminals, mounted Police chose to have a relaxing horse ride through the Central Gateway. But remember boys and girls - they're too busy to help you!

  1. A picture says a 1000 words, this one says a 1000000!

  2. Fantastic picture, but I feel the biggest problem is those bloody useless waste of taxpayer’s money PCSOs. If we scrapped them we could save billions in squandered money.

    • They might be useless, but at least you see one every other week or so in town, not hiding under a deserted bus shelter. Not so with these coppers but you can bet your bottom dollar the town will be painted luminous yellow for that dancing thing.

      • I’m with Harold, I have nothing against them personally I just think they are non-jobs. They may be a visible presence and not being paid £30k to hide under shelters but the fact of the matter is they don’t do anything. They are virtually powerless and even though criminals are lowlives they at least have the brains to know that PCSOs can’t touch them. One of my biggest pet hates as well in Blackpool is seeing people walking around in broad daylight with cans of lager in their hand. It is illegal and gives our fair town a terrible image. But from what I have heard PCSOs are not even allowed to confiscate alcohol the boozer has to hand it over voluntarily. They are a joke.

        • That’s true. You should whip your mobile out and get pic of them and make a dossier to send to Peter Callow next time he announces a “crackdown” on drinking on the street.

We’re due one of these announcements coming up to the Royal Variety.

        • Regarding your pet hate, I worked for many many years (until 18 months ago) at Blackpool Mags and every day, rain or shine, the scroats were outside drinking, on a hot day the steps were full where they all sat to drink and do their ‘deals’ and the police would just side step them to enter the Court. Very rarely were they challenged regarding their drinking.

  3. They are useless and a joke, another nulabour gimmick. The officers themselves are fine people but their relevance is open to question.

Why not provide more police period?

  5. [...] Bringing good quality homes to the town centre would improve conditions, especially if filled with permanent residents that have proper jobs. This might have an effect on other surrounding areas and give people something to aspire to. On the other hand it might just create a honeypot of relative wealth for the drug addicted career criminal transient to prey upon whilst the Police hide under secluded out-of-town bus shelters.
