The Lisbon treaty has now been ratified. This means there will be no referendum on it in the UK, Tony Blair will end up being President of Europe, and Europe has now gained significant power to overrule state laws amongst other things. The BBC has a good roundup of the ramifications or you can check my own roundup.

  2. When we leave Europe, the first 2 things to do are.

    1) Make Philtheone PM
    2) Put Toady Bliar on trial, for war crimes and sucking a horse’s phallus without a licence!

  3. And because of this we can expect more and more immigration encouraged by the Government because the higher the numbers the more power these politicians have. Democracy is being very eroded in this country and “Dave” needs to get a real grip on how badly people are feeling on this issue. The more power is transfered without our consent, the more of us feel that there’s worse to come and we shouldn’t be in at all. Afterall are Switzerland and Norway on their knees financially?

  5. We have been betrayed by our political elite. After the Irish revote there can never be a two speed EU, only the speed the EU wants. The only alternative now for those that believe in our country is independence and with that we can regain control of our borders and our destiny.

    • Pull out off the EU very scary idea. But it is a debate this country has to have, infact it is a debate all the countries in the EU should have.

      • What’s so scary? My idea of pulling out of Europe is simply forbidding them to implement policy that overrules our own legislation.

I’m not thinking of building a 100 foot high brick wall around our coastline with the Union Jack emblazoned all over it.

I do despise the exploitation of the human rights act and the resulting claims culture and obsession with political correctness.

Immigration would still be OK, but it would be invite only like Australia is. We may well have freedom of movement around Europe now, but in reality is it any different to how it was prior to being deregulated?

In fact I’d say as a Brit that only ever flies and doesnt drive or go by train to and through Europe that it’s even more difficult and time consuming than ever to traverse the continent.

I’m not seeing much good in being “in” Europe to be honest and I don’t like the way we’re being force fed all these self interested Europe agendas by self-appointed pariahs like Tony Blair with no way of objecting.

  6. Why is it scary to want your independence back, the EU is hardly democratic is it?

We dont even get to vote for the fuckin president?

What fuckin planet do you live on?

Europe was doing fine before the EUSSR.

We have never had any referendum on it yet.

  7. The whole EU thing is so one sided, thats why people are suspicious, worse still all 3 parties support, even the so called conservatives, who next to labour have betryed their principles for being PC and pro EU.

I personally have yet to see any benefits in being in the EU, I see a lot of bad but no good.

    Can anyone explain?

  8. Joining the EU has caused many “problems,” problems that weren’t there prior to us joining. Where I work, we have seen far too many changes to good’s that the EU have deemed unfit for use. After February there will be very few eye-level cooker’s on the market, because the EU has deemed them “dangerous.” Come the middle of next year, the lowest spin washing machine you will be able to buy is 1200, because the EU have said the lower spin’s are far too damaging to environment to make. So every low income family can look forward to a hike in white goods prices thank’s to the EU.
