Iraq Enquiry

I’ve not been following this religiously but within the first few days of the much called-for Iraq war enquiry it’s already been revealed that the USA and UK were planning to invade Iraq prior to September 11th, with George W Bush being the driving force.

Today it was revealed by former British Ambassador to the UN Sir Jeremy Greenstock that neither the USA or UK thought Saddam had any weapons of mass destruction. I guess that university thesis that was produced to “prove” that he had them was just another propaganda tool of Tony Blair’s corrupt regime. And what of Doctor David Kelly?

Blair has guilt branded across his forehead.

They’ve said that the report for this enquiry will not be produced until 2011, which suggests that this will be a long running, expensive waste of time, particularly given that no matter what they conclude, nobody will be held accountable.

But what I’ve heard so far is enough. End it now. There were no weapons of mass destruction: anything we were told was part of a personal crusade by George W Bush and Tony Blair intended to deceive us and convince us to believe it was a just war and that we were in clear and present danger.

We weren’t. They knew we weren’t. They should both stand up and face the fact that organizing the bombing and invasion of a country for no reason is little different to Hitler sending the Luftwaffe to blitz London and sending his armies into neighbouring countries.

And they should pay the penalty for it.
