In a week where multi millionaire, expenses sponging Labour MP Barbara Follett told us that council tax is to rise by 3% despite the country being in recession, the salt is well and truly rubbed into the wound by today’s revelation that 40 year old Somali former asylum seeker Nasra Warsame, her mother and 7 of her children children are living in a 5 storey, £1.8million West End palace for free: all paid for by housing benefit.
The house that costs an amazing £83,000 per year to rent is kitted out with all the latest mod cons, leather sofas, brand new kitchen, flat screen TV and designer furniture. What’s more, Nasra’s eighth child and her husband Bashir live in a flat nearby because they claim the house is too small!
Unsurprisingly, neither husband nor wife have a job.
I guess the news about council tax won’t be bothering this couple but for the rest of us how are we supposed to come up with another 3%? Why is it even necessary for council tax to go up 3%? Oh yes, it’s so that privately employed people can fork out to line the fucking ever-increasing final salary pension pot of all these town hall tossers that are shafting our towns for all they can.
Local councils paid out £5.4 billion in pensions payments to retired council workers in the tax year ending 2009, almost double the £3.5 billion paid out during the same period four years earlier, according to the figures from Communities and Local Government. With the same increase over the next 4 years the payout will be £8.3 billion.
Whilst private companies are scrapping final salary schemes and pension schemes altogether, the public sector is going the other way, providing ballooning gold plated pensions for all and expecting the already beleaguered ratepayer to foot the bill.
But look at Nasra Warsame, living in a house that most of us couldn’t dream about affording, all for free, all paid for once again by the battered, bruised, hungry and homeless ratepayer. What’s the moral to the story? Work for the public sector or be unemployed and have lots of children? Is that the kind of culture that Gordon Brown wants?

Of course the council taxes are high. Mainly because we are run by idiots. Just how many council employees will be voting Labour or Lib Dem? You certainly won’t see them vote for an administration that wants public sector restraint. And all we’ll get from them is that they pay taxes too. Yes – but their taxes are paid out of money we in the private sector have paid like all the rest of the money they keep. And because they’re so keen on left-wing ideals they fail to see who actually earns the money they spend or how the big picture is. They might even actually think money grows on trees for all we know. So why not waste it?
Well the FBC council tax rise last year was 5.1% I think. They asked the government to let them charge even more but they were turned down.
Why so much? Well John Coombes and that useless prat Phil Woodward (a pathetic snivelling little man who shouldn’t be in charge of a sheet of paper in case he cuts himself) managed to turn a well-off council into one that did really badly and had to start shutting down pools.
So until this administration is stopped I expect charges rising by more than 5% for this area by various techniques such as introducing charges under other headings so that they can get around the capping limit.
You think you have a stupid council in Blackpool – well maybe they aren’t strong enough to bring in the changes to get Blackpool back to its glory days but they certainly aren’t the thickest most useless people in charge as they are all employed by your neighbouring council. Probably the lower downs have more brains and sense but no power.

Hear hear Harold. We need drastic reforms of immigration and the welfare system. We should have caps/limits on immigration annually but when any party attempts this they get branded ‘racist’ and ‘far right extremists’ by narrow-minded lefties. I think limits make perfect sense, it works in Australia. Limiting immigration is NOT racist, it is is common sense and practical.
Now onto my favourite subject; the welfare system in this country is a joke. Socialism rewards laziness and promotes this pathetic culture where people expect handouts. I am infuriated by the way people with nothing wrong with them can go ‘on the sick’ and get cash handouts to squander on booze, fags and holidays. I once remember a case in Tesco when a man (perfectly able-bodied) was bragging about his holidays and a friend said ‘How can YOU afford that?’ he replied ’300 and odd quid a week in benefits’ , to me that is unacceptable. Why should workshy layabouts be rewarded while hard-working people are taxed to death. I would much rather that wasted money be spent on restoring free university education (which Labour took away) paying for tommorows doctors, engineers and scientists. Under this Labour Government you try and better yourself and you get hammered, you’re bone idle and you get the 5* treatment. I think socialism is just fuelled by jealousy of people who have done well. I believe if you want to be well off in this world then you should work for it not expect handouts. But for the record I hold nothing against the genuine claimants who truly are disabled and sick, they deserve our support and I am fully willing to help them. But very few people are beyond capability of doing any job whatsoever, Steven Hawking being a fine inspirational example of how profound disabilty has not stopped him being an eminent scientist.

Very good question, personally I would say it is a bit of both. The claimant holds some blame for abusing the system in the first place. But arguably if the system wasn’t so flawed and open to abuse to begin with then the fraudsters wouldn’t be able to claim. So I would say 80% of the blame goes to the Government and agencies.

I am a supporter of DC, but I must admit in the leadership contest David Davis was my favourite as he is a more traditional Conservative. I also like Liam Fox especially as he is in the healthcare profession but also a good down to earth guy as well.
