I’ve just returned home from a drinking establishment and checked the Gasjet’s pages on the popular stories of the day.

One in particular about the Talbot Gateway was developing nicely. More than 40 comments and only one or two deletions. I get back and the whole set of comments has been reported.

I ask, what is the fucking point?

  1. Gasjet dont care, why, well it could be that someone related to or working for the Gasjet is the culprit.

Controversial statements, especially by nutters like me, that have an element of truth wont go down well with certain people, Gasjet included.

Thats why they wont learn, its not in their interests to do so.

  2. Phil mate, it’s why we all like your site, it gives us a chance to say the things certain people don’t want us to say.

I think there are two deleters, there is one that targets True Blackpudlian and occasionaly some of mine (probably a labour voter) and another who just has issues and likes the attention of being a pain brings.

    • Well said ZF, I especially seem to get targeted often when I dare to criticise Labour or our useless ‘local’ MPs. Like on one thread yesterday two of my posts were restored and the others all left ‘Reported Unsuitable for No Reason’. I expect this was because the idiot with a hate campaign against me came on and only deleted mine and the Gazette put them back which will probably have that obnoxious Labour loving tosser frustrated of blackpool accusing me of being ‘exempt’ again. I have done nothing wrong so I don’t see why I am being targeted and I am furious this has been going on for over a year and the Gazette has done nothing about it. I wrote to Johnston Press (with no reply, useless twats) so I don’t see what else we can do. But it is getting really annoying, I am coming home from work like today and I can’t comment because all the others have been deleted so I have nothing to reply to and I am getting really fucked off as I am sure everyone else is. I just wish the bastard would show themself and explain why they are doing it. I note how today the Gazette has not allowed comments on any thread.

  3. I agree someone has it in for TB, (pro Preston???), but given some of the stuff that attacks the council (by me and others), the Gasjet must get calls from Caliphate Callow, moaning about it?

I have made some attacks on the council (no swearing) and they have been deleted; whilst others are left.

    • I totally agree, it seems once Gordon Marsden gets mentioned then the deletions come out in force.

I still can’t believe that Johnston Press still permit people to delete that aren’t even logged in. Being logged in isn’t really a security measure, but it makes it slightly more tedious for the deleter to do it.

      • I think only registered users should be allowed to report but the Gazette claims this is ‘illegal’ apparently. But with my comments, anything anti-Labour, anti-Preston or anti-smoking and the deletions are rampant usually with me being specifically targeted.

  4. Yes Phil what it means is you may as well put all the libellous filth you want, the outcome is the same regardless: deletion.

i suspect the Gasjet is involved somewhere, its saves them time nad money having to pay a moderator.

Its easier just to say delete them all at the end of the day, nothing is left to chance.

They should scrap the whole thing as it has zero credibility, one thing is for sure though, theres a lot of anger/frustration and despair in Blackpool and I believe its fully justified.

I also belive local politicians should be made to account.I have asked the Gazette on numerous occasions to set up a Question time forum of local politicians; no reply.

They ahve a lot of explaining to do, but not just politicians, people like Weaver/garrett need to explain what ReBlackpool does, is doing and how they are value for money.

  5. Personally I think theres a massive scandal waiting to come out there and it would blow away the mps expenses; given the stae of Blackpool.

If they sorted Blackpool out and got a few freebies, extras etc, I could live with that.

Also,I can live with big salaries for getting big results; thats just reward.

But progress is so slow, look at these bizarre completion dates, most projects are 5 years, why 10 or 15???

But in the case of reblackpool consider this.

If they fully regenerated Blackpool within say 5 years, they then would be become redundant?

In other words, its in their interest to make sure progress is slow, so they stay in a job and keep their fat salaries, hence the slow progress.

I would love to know the terms and conditions of their salaries, dont bank on the Gazette though!

    • Jesus Christ, Helen France is on more than £100k?!

It was obvious the other lot would be, and Weaver’s salary is a joke. Is he now on more than the Prime Minister?

        what exactly?

as I said we have a local scandal here thats waiting to go off like Hiroshima.

Just waht has he done for Blackpool.

why doesnt the gasjet do an analysis on him?

        • I don’t know, maybe because they’d be cutting off their daily Talbot Gateway press re-releases and without that what would they report about?

But in all seriousness I would love to see them do “a day in the life” of Steve Weaver and catalog his activity for a week or so. In fact I’d like even more to see a day in the life of Helen France, because as far as I am concerned she is the biggest rip off I have ever seen. All she does is talk bollocks in the paper.

        • I agree I despise the Labour Party and this Government but I feel it is wrong that there is anybody in the public sector earning more than the PM. Like I say I am no fan of Brown but I do at least appreciate being PM is a very difficult and demanding job (no matter how good or bad a PM is!) and I feel it is fair it pays a decent wage. But why LA chief execs are earning more is beyond me. I think there should be a similar pay structure for senior civil servants to the NHS where people on different ‘bands’ get a set wage banding. For example MPs could be on ‘Band x £60000-65000′ etc and personally I don’t think a local authority CE should get anymore than that. They certainly shouldn’t be on six figures.

  7. The Gazette gets on average about £1 Million a year in direct and indirect advertising revenue from Blackpool Council.

Also if you look carefully about 40% of news items start life as Press releases written by a team of PR staff at Blackpool Council.

That is why the Gazette never upsets this Con or the previous Labour Council too much.

    • I hate it when they use these pathetic arguments like that. Its like I hate the way the richest people in the country like ‘Sir’ Phillip Green earn billions a year and yet pays less tax than a BHS sales assistant. Then when anyone suggests charging these greedy people more tax, business leaders say ‘It will encourage businesses to go abroad’, I say let them go abroad. If they don’t want to contribute to the country they don’t deserve to be here. Another one was on the news the other day. George Osborne said he wants to ban bankers bonuses (a surefire vote winner, especially as I hate City bankers) but then the correspondent said ‘Bankers will not be happy claiming they deserve their exorbiant bonuses as they ‘keep the country going’. I think we could easily live without the bankers, just an inconvenience. Without doctors and nurses, the NHS the country truly couldn’t function.

      • I wouldn’t go along with that actually, it’s a particularly Old Labour policy and I’m surprised you’re on side with it.

City bankers get bonuses because its in their contracts that they get bonuses, not because they are such greedy people they’re robbing money from the bank. If someone makes £100million for your company, a £5million bonus might keep them interested and aim for £200million next year.

It was the ability to short sell that hammered a lot of the shares that small time investors had, like Bradford and Bingley (I personally lost thousands because of this). The traders at LSE could borrow your shares, sell them en masse at Price A, buy them at cheaper Price B and give the shares back, pocketing the difference. The issue with this is they are in it to devalue the shares and I find that to be wrong.

The financial services sector is the only world class business sector the UK has and to chop that off would leave us as a sad little island with no manufacturing, no services and a Government that has to provide a public sector job for everyone because all the private business failed, went abroad or were taxed out of the market.

We could easily live without a lot of things, but if you had no bank, where would you get your mortgage? Where would you keep your money? Who would be investing your pension payments?

You could live without McDonalds, but think of the employment they provide. Same goes for BHS. Phil Green took a risk when he took over BHS, because it was doing crap. He single handedly turned it into a good company, securing jobs and a place on our high streets.

The difference is he owns it, he’s not just a chief exec like Sir Stuart Rose is for M&S. Thats why he has squillions and not just millions like Rose.

Punishing high earners is futile. It reaps in just about nothing for the tax coffers and creates resentment and bad feeling amongst those that can actually afford to bugger off and live elsewhere but still conduct affairs here.

        • I think bonus schemes are one of the best ways to incentive (I can’t think of the last time I took a job without one) however they have to be operated correctly. As it stands the Banks can’t justify paying out large bonuses and if I was a shareholder (oh I am because I am a tax payer) I would be demanding to no why we fell it’s necessary to pay out bonuses for failure.

        • Fair point Phil, I stand by my hatred of bankers though, I don’t feel they deserve bonuses from the taxpayers purse. It was private money then so be it. But I am furious my taxes are being spent on bonuses and lavish outings to Wimbledon when these banks were on the verge of collapse. NHS consultants (medical not jobsworths) don’t get six-figure bonuses when they do a much more valuable job than bankers saving lives and giving people a better quality of life.

  10. “But town halls defended their pay scales, saying high salaries were vital in order to compete with the private sector.”

Fucking hell. Show me what pays 100K+ for a parttime job in the private sector??. Only City Wankers, directors and high end managment in national/international companys earn that sort of cash!

Considering probly more then half of Council members have there hand in the cookie jar one way or the other too its a joke. Also consider these people have LEGIONS of low paid staff doing the work.

Need more gravy with my train plz.
