Update

Just thought I would update you on why the site was offline last night, although you probably can guess.

The comments on the “two jobsworths out” thread were getting unpleasant and personal, resulting in legal threats against myself from History Hunter of the Thornton Through Time website. I had no access to a computer at the time, so took the site offline via my phone.

UKIP; Real Opposition or One-Trick Pony?

There has much talk around UKIP on this board recently namely because of the very controversial ’selection’ of pro-smoking publican Hamish Howitt which has angered a lot of members and I would resign if I was a member. If anyone can provide me with any information on what’s the story before his ’selection’ I would appreciate it.

On their website they have a big defiant header ‘The Real Opposition’. If you look at their proper policies then if like me you are a right-leaning person some of them sound very sensible and very appealing.

Two jobsworths out, plenty more to go

Blackpool Council executives Julian Kearsley and Steve Pullan have been relieved of their positions and will be leaving their Council offices next month in a blitz of cost cutting.

Steve Weaver will no doubt be extremely pleased as it means he’ll end up getting “more responsibility” which equates to “more money”.

Apparently ten other staff will be sacked, saving a total of £1.2million per year. Wow. Twelve council workers, £1.2million. Obviously my impression of the earning levels within the council were wildly below par.

Former PM quizzed over WMD claims

Despite the Iraq Inquiry being a relatively pointless exercise in that it won’t hold anyone accountable, Sir John Chilcot finally got his Holiness the Rt. Rev. Tony Blair to face some questions today.

Everyone else that had faced the inquiry had blamed someone else. Was it John Scarlet’s fault? Alastair Campbell’s? The Man on the Moon?

I expected Blair to come out with the same stuff. Blame the Americans because you know the answer will be swift and extremely short if you ask to bring George W. Bush over to face questions.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

With all the talk revolving around transport in Blackpool I felt compelled to write an article on it. We seem to have terrible luck in Blackpool with transport links.

Gazette correspondent and Labour sympathiser Terry Bennett once wrote a ridiculous letter to the Gazette moaning about transport links to Blackpool. I must admit he was right in his actual comments but in typical Labour supporter style he tried to blame everything on the Conservative Council eventhough the problems he pointed to were all PRIVATE sector decisions.

Blackpool South Station update

Just thought I would bring you up to date with the latest progress, or lack of, in relation to Blackpool South railway station.

I’m certainly not a railway man by any stretch of the imagination but what I am is someone that doesn’t like watching Blackpool Council living in it’s Teflon-lined bubble doing whatever it likes with little regard to the damage to local services, infrastructure and it’s own reputation.
