Gypskrieg!

I talked about the Starr Gate tram depot the other day and the opposition to it from local residents who don’t want this 4 storey dirty depot plonked on their seafront doorstep.

Yesterday a similar story emerged about travellers’ occupation of land over Wyre.

In both cases, the local residents have an unwelcome entity on their doorstep that creates a mess of the area and massively devalues their homes but there is clearly some confusion. The tram depot met opposition from a High Court judge as well as the Government whilst the travellers camp was whole heartedly approved!

Is this a case of one rule for one…

The only limitations the travellers have are that they can’t use the land for business purposes, can’t let waste accumulate and can’t have any more caravans on the site. They are even pursuing getting a postcode for their camp so that electricity can be cabled in. Apparently some of them are on ventilators, so you wonder why they don’t just get a proper accommodation rather than a dingy caravan. Could it be something to do with tax, I wonder.

Indeed, it’s been said on the Gasjet’s comments page that some local companies including M Teales and Wyre Waste have been paying these travellers to dispose of hardcore and that they have dumped it on this land. This may or may not be true, but the figure quoted is 35,000 tonnes. Seems far fetched.

These travellers made a lifestyle choice that they’d rather live a life of murky means and brand new Range Rovers than be honest, law abiding citizens. So why are they awarded special status at the cost of the average person?

They don’t want to register their businesses and pay tax? Lock them up like you would me if I decided I wasn’t paying.

A squad of armed police in full Robocop body armour should be despatched to round them up and stick them on a prison ship until they sign up to a normal, fully registered way of life. It is unacceptable to have invisible people like this lot setting up their own neighbourhoods and living by their own rules; dodging their way through life inflicting misery upon honest people yet being sucked up to by councils, police, judges and governments.

Human rights was stated as the reason for permission to remain being granted by the judge. If this is the case, why can’t they go back to their native Southern Ireland and set up camps next to well-to-do neighbourhoods? The European Convention for Human Rights applies there just as it does here.

I know this stinks a bit of “send them all home” xenophobia, but it’s not because they’re from Ireland that I’m fervently against them, it’s that they are basically small time criminals being permitted to go about seedy business. When a travellers’ camp appears, the locals cower under a blanket of fear. They know that should a traveller commit any offences against them then the police will do nothing, because the police are just as scared. Mob rules, OK?

I can see it now, traveller Paddy O’Reilly goes to Joe Honest’s house and starts robbing his driveway flagstones or his roof tiles. Joe comes out and Paddy knocks him out. Police come, Joe says it was a traveller and the police turn up at the travellers camp to find an angry mob that they don’t want to upset for fear for their own safety. They know these are the kind of people that don’t operate within the law and will happily rape, pillage and arson without a second thought. So the case disappears. Turn the tables, however, and I think Joe Honest would find himself at Her Majesty’s pleasure.

It’s always the same in this country. The average law abiding person receives no support from this Government, period. Looking at their expenses, cash for questions, cash for laws, cash for peerages, cash for passports and so on, half of them are crooks so I’m hardly surprised. Someone on the Gasjet poignantly pointed out;

“Where is their local MP in a time of need…? probably claiming expenses! absolute joke of a council – I bet if any member of council lived nearby this would never had happened.” – 911 Kirky

I bet if the fucking judge lived nearby this wouldn’t have happened either.

But if you do everything by the book, the right way, you accept decisions made and that’s that. Want to build? Make a planning application. But if you’re a traveller, you just move in and get cracking because nobody’s going to do a damn thing about it, even if the local residents are in uproar.

It’s time these local councils and enforcement authorities stopped preaching about equality and started fucking practising it.

  3. I know its off-topic but I can’t help but comment on this one; a positive non-political letter in the Gazette from (get ready!!!) Terry Bennett. He wrote a nice letter praising and thanking the people in town and BVH staff who helped him when he had a fall last Saturday. I am so surprised he didn’t do a Clive Grunshaw and start with a nice tribute to the NHS after his cancer treatment, then totally spoilt it by shamelessly saying the wonderful NHS is all thanks to a Labour Government bla bla bla, what a tosser. Can’t even write a fucking thank you letter without using it for political pointscoring.

If you like to witness the amazing spectacle of a positive Terry Bennett letter here it is http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/letters/Letters–January-13.5977272.jp

    • That should be very interesting, Gordon Brown made me laugh today he is selling Labour as the party of ‘aspiration’ claiming he believes in a fair society where hard work will pay off and dreams will be fulfilled. He’s a fucking socialist, socialists don’t believe in aspiration and hard work.

        • I couldn’t agree more, I find it hard to believe people still vote for them. Then again Labour supporters are about the most gullible people in the world, they would clap and cheer if they planned to unleash the swine flu virus into Middlesborough and still vote Liebour.

          • How anyone with a modicum of intelligence vote for them is beyond me, they are the enemy of society, period.

When Thatcher was quoted as saying there is no such thing as society, it seems labour heard that statement and have actually tried their best with considerable sucess to carry out policies to do just that; make society NON EXISTENT through PC.

In other words, Thatchers policies more more supportive of the concept of society than labours, and she said there was no such thing as society.

what a fucked up state of affairs! lol

    • I agree with a lot of what UKIP says but I can’t back a party that wants to amend the smoking ban and puts an idiot like Hamish Howitt up as a candidate (although hopefully he won’t be for much longer). But I agree totally with pulling out of the EU. I wish Blackpool South had an English Democrat candidate. More than anything though my vote will be tactical to get Marsden out.

  11. a vote for UKIP, EDs or the BNP is a good vote imho,Hamish has lost the plot, I can’t see them taking him on, hes a liability and has no credibility.

He has made an arse of himself which is a shame as the issue of freedom of chosce is an important one.I support the ban but I deplore its implementation which was OTT;I believe the ban needs amending but not repealing

  12. From the gasjet website:

“The guy that deletes the messages is the same one that moderates/runs the website http://www.livefromblackpool.co.uk

Unfortunately the deleter doesn’t like any criticism directed at Blackpool or the Council for that matter.

As for the Gazette, to let this carry on just shows how much of a joke they are.”

How would “oldbloke” know this to be true?
