Blackpool Council executives Julian Kearsley and Steve Pullan have been relieved of their positions and will be leaving their Council offices next month in a blitz of cost cutting.

Steve Weaver will no doubt be extremely pleased as it means he’ll end up getting “more responsibility” which equates to “more money”.

Apparently ten other staff will be sacked, saving a total of £1.2million per year. Wow. Twelve council workers, £1.2million. Obviously my impression of the earning levels within the council were wildly below par.

It’s not that hard is it? These wazzocks alone will pay the Illuminations deficit for the best part of three years and I await the next set of redundancies. The payoff that Kearsley and Pullen will be pocketing hasn’t been mentioned, but that will be because it’s six figures apiece, up front. I’ve not even mentioned the mind blowing pensions.

But still, this is something we have been calling for for a long long time, the only sad part is that the most dangerous criminals – Helen France, Alan Cavill and Mr Weaver – remain at large with a license to ruin our town.

Agreed Phil, TB WHERE ARE YOU on this one mate? Please give us your views!

  2. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

another example of a shite forum:

this is why Philtheone is the premier forum of the world!

    • Hezikiah Smith says:

      Harold, Mike or actually John.

I am very surprised that someone who is so into the freedom of speech and so forceful in wanting to get their views across hasn’t actually got the bottle to set up their own forum. It’s free and only takes 5 mins. Instead you invade other forums with your extreme views and foul mouth getting banned from each one.

Perhaps it’s because you wouldn’t be able to hide behind your fake names (I’ve added mine in tribute) and actually put your money where your mouth is. It’s easy to hide behind a keyboard spouting rubbish .. try getting off your behind and actually doing something about it.

Gosh and I wrote that without resorting to bad language .. sounds more intelligent doesn’t it!

  3. True Blackpudlian says:

I’ve been in Manchester all day just picked up the Gazette now and when I saw the headline I had very high hopes but then when I saw the names Julian Kearsley and Steve Pullan (who?) I just shouted BOLLOCKS why not Cavill and Weaver. I am no fan of any of the town hall executive jobsworths but Cavill and Weaver are the worst offenders as Phil rightly points out. I wish they could sack Weaver and poach Sir Howard Bernstein off Manchester. But I am bit disappointed with him. He spent a very short time in Blackpool in an ‘advisory capacity’ costing a huge sum of money and I can’t really note any big achievements, I really had high hopes he would pull something off.

  4. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

C and W are the 2 biggest unelected cunts ruining that town.

    Labour out 2010!

    Marsden out 2010!

  5. True Blackpudlian says:

Hear Hear Harold, Cavill and Weaver OUT posthaste!!!!

  6. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

into the sea with the rest of the sewage!

    • skeet says:

I for one will be glad to see the back of Steve Pullan. He is one fat lazy bastard. He was responsible for closing the council rest homes some years ago. His last act of gross incompetence was to be ignorant of the fact that one of his staff had stolen £600,000 before being discovered. She was claiming for a children’s home that only existed on paper and nobody in social services ever checked it out. He should have been sacked there and then and joined the woman in jail. He’s guilty of a lot more bone idle lazy cock ups that must have cost the taxpayer many thousands. He can join Harold’s bathing party in the sea

      • TrooBloo says:

I agree Skeet, Pullan is useless and caused uneccesarry hardship to dozens of old folk who were unceremonialy turfed out of their homes. To be fair, Kearsley is one of the more sensible council officers. He is approachable and fair, not easily fooled and would have been my choice to succeed Weaver. This is probably why he has been deleted! Weaver is removing all the threats to his position.

Unfortunately, getting rid of high earners like these doesn’t actually save the council any money! We have to pay their severance and their pensions as well as paying someone else to do their job!.

        • skeet says:

Have to go along with that statement about Kearsley TrooBloo, I’ve always thought that he would do a better job than Weaver. Could be that he’s asking to many questions, or perhaps he does not go along with some of their crazy plans, especially as he signs the cheques.

  7. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

cheers skeet, steve’pullan’ a little boys dick, off you go you cunt!

  8. Philtheone says:

    Responsible moderator reporting for duty!

I dont mind swearing to emphasise an argument, but it has been going too far of late with words and metaphors that make 18 rated movies sound like Disney cartoons.

I like to think people that read my site are intelligent, normal people that deserve and enjoy respectful discussion. Whilst the underlying points behind Harolds rants are often sound, the articulation can be a bit too offensive and frankly not enjoyable to read.

I will also extend that personal attacks are not welcome here unless provoked.

  9. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

what about personal attacks on mps, councillors, surely there is more than ample provocation there? lol

    • True Blackpudlian says:

Of course I would say so, I think they are referring more to personal attacks on other users like when that idiot ‘Ian’ or his supposed ‘daughters using his account’ came on here giving me a load of grief. The thing I love about this site is that you can attack MPs, councillors, celebrities, local pro-smoking ex-publican muppets without the Gasjet censorship. I wrote a comment the other day on the Gasjet calling Weaver and Cavill overpaid jobsworths, that is simply my opinion it wasn’t abusive or libellous yet I got ‘Removed by Administrator’ and this has also happened on occasions when I have attacked Jack Croysdill. Looks like someone in the local Liebour ranks has ‘had a word’ with the Gazette.

      • Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

Dont worry TB when I set up my site, I am building my computer, you and all the proper people on here minus the occasional moron will be welcome, you can say what you like mate.

Theses people need to be made ACCOUNTABLE.

  10. Philtheone says:

Why do you think that, Paul?

  11. Jamesh says:

    Lol internet.

If anyone belives that swearing at other people on the internet is illegal, then i seriously suggest that you spend a bit more time on here

  12. unknown says:

Could you possibly stop the foul mouth so the rest of us can enjoy this site- your bad language is not necessary all the time.

  13. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

speak for yourself uknown and fuck off is my answer, other posters swear.

  14. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

This is Phils site, if he wants me to stop swearing I will of course do as HE SAYS, and again, FUCK OFF.

  15. unknown says:

NOT LIKE YOU WE DONT- YOU SEEM TO HAVE A SCREW LOOSE , MOST OF WHAT YOU SAY IS TARNISHED BY YOUR FOUL MOUTH. GROW UP

“JUST A WARNING BUT NEW INTERNET LAWS ARE IN PLACE AND SUCH ATTACKS ON INDIVIDUALS ARE UNLAWFULL I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO WATCH WHAT YOU ARE POSTING ON HERE AS FORWARDED TO THE POLICE WILL RESULT IN PROSECUTION AND CLOSURE OF THIS SITE.”

    Bullshit.

  21. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

Unknown go back to your thrornton through URINE webshite, where u belong.

  22. john says:

What they say is right just because it’s a blog doesn’t permit you to write anything you want the law does apply.

  23. Harold Ernest Gokdogan says:

screw this rotten labour goverment and its PC laws.

    Labour out 2010, FOR EVER!

  24. john says:

I think the laws have been around for a long time but (and rightly) are now being applied to the Blogs.

  25. Boney says:

In fact double bullshit. Go read up on the law.

  26. TrooBloo says:

The laws of defamation apply equally to the author and publishers. In this instance, wordpress are also the publishers along with Phil and therefore could pull the plug should they wish to. It is extremely unlikely for an individual to take defamotary action (far too expensive) but the publishers don’t really need the hassle!

  27. john says:

    Defamation
    Elements of Defamation of Character
    Identifiable Victim
    Falsehood
    Malice
    Emotional Distress
    The Right to Privacy
This is the law and it applies to blogs it is not bullshit boney read the law.

  28. Philtheone says:

That’s actually not the case. This site is not hosted by WordPress.

  29. Philtheone says:

The responsibility to prove that whatever falsehoods were true is not mine, though, because I didn’t write them.

  30. Boney says:

john -That was not in fact a reply to you but my earlyer comments, for some reason it posted it down here.

Still go read the law and understand it. Understand what you are infact talking about in ref to the list of words you posted and how they relate to the situation or not. This one and others.
You might then understand how the situation here has little to no relevance within that law.

  31. Boney says:

or to put it bluntly. Learn to goggle.

  32. TrooBloo says:

If you can show “due diligence” that you moderate the blog in a reasonable way then there should be no problem. However, if you were found to have encouraged someone to make defamatory remarks or done nothing to try to moderate someone making obvious defamatory remarks then I would suggest you could be in big trouble. If someone sues you for making a defamotary statement, the onus is on the defendant to prove they either didn’t do it, didn’t do it out of malice or that it was “fair comment” eg. all politicians are liars! This is a very expensive business though and whilst many may threaten this kind of action, may even send a few solicitors letters, it is rarely gone through with. WordPress would be in the clear provided they showed due diligence eg code of conduct, revealing IP adresses to courts etc….

  33. Philtheone says:

Again, WordPress is nothing to do with this, it’s just a blogging framework that I downloaded and installed on my own server.

It has no link whatsoever with this website. The only person that knows IP addresses of visitors is me.

I don’t see how I could be sued for these comments given that I didn’t make them, however the Gasjet must have their user driven moderation for a reason!!

  34. TrooBloo says:

You are right Phil, re the Gasjet. The way I see it There are three choices 1. Heavily Moderated – expensive 2. Self Moderation – we know about those drawbacks 3. No Comments! This is why when the story is about a particular person or group of people they just turn comments off..

  35. Boney says:

A legal disclaimer that has to be “check boxed” by the unregistered poster should do the trick. That and moderation of any post distantly illegal in nature. That’s all you need to show ‘due diligence’ as TrooBloo rightly put it. As Troobloo also noted you don’t want to get owned for ‘inciting hatred’ or the enabling of it via the comments. There is little to no basis on the site for that though as it is.

Defamatory remarks are by users are ok as long as there based on hard facts or are pure opinion and are stated that way. The law does look at the context of a defamatory remark in court.

If I was to call you a paedophile directly as a statement of fact you might have grounds to sue me.
If I was to like you to a paedophile in an analogy then you probably would not depending on context.

To be honest, I don’t think ya have anything to worry about in my opinion

  36. john says:

You cant just opt out of the internet laws unfortunatly.

  37. Philtheone says:

It’s not an “internet law” though.

  38. Boney says:

internet law?! had no idea a whole set of made up laws goven the whole internet around the world.
