February stats fest, 2010

This month has seen yet more growth for my website with 3940 visits compared with 3095 last month.

Page views were up dramatically with 18731 views compared with 12482, and there were more unique visitors; up from 739 to 872. I’m not sure where these extra visitors are hearing about the site as I don’t actively advertise it (through laziness mainly) but I’m very pleased that there’s content on here that people want to read.

Humble crumbles

Live in Blackpool is reporting that Joan Humble has pulled out of the next election campaign!

Apparently she wants to spend more time with her family. I heard a couple of months ago that Labour would be shifting Joan elsewhere anyway (perhaps she didn’t like this idea) and that Simon Blackburn would be standing, so it’ll be interesting to see whether this happens.

Doesn’t give the Labour PPC much time to get a campaign going, maybe it’s a foregone conclusion that they’re going to lose Blackpool North.

The Government ruins the country while trade unions think they run it

There has been much media coverage of the planned BA strikes by greedy and selfish unions planning to hold the country to ransom again; shamelessly ruining people’s holidays in the process.

Council cosh hoteliers and residents put the boot in

Two hoteliers from the Tyldesley Road area have come out in protest at what they believe to be deliberate neglect of their area by the council in order to devalue their properties prior to compulsory purchase orders.

The council is planning to convert this downtrodden zone of hotels and guesthouses into brand new family homes by 2025 in order to satisfy government house building targets and are negotiating a £35million cash handout to complete the project.

Grumpy Old Men Labour Style

There was an announcement in the Gazette the other day that Labour Leader Ivan Taylor is standing down as leader (happy days!) but not as a councillor (shame). As anyone knows I am no fan of Liebour, their 13 years of damage to the country and 16 miserable years in charge of the council show they can’t run a bath let alone a council/county/country.

Social decline of a seaside town

We’ve heard in the news in the last few weeks about 20% of children in Blackpool being obese, we’ve heard about some of Blackpool’s schools being the worst in the UK with some of the worst truancy levels. We know that there are arson cases almost every other week, be they insurance jobs or just mindless destruction. We know that traditional middle class areas are in decline, with a distinct shift towards state dependency as professional businesses close down and educated people have no jobs to go to.

Chip and bin part 2: if you tolerate this, then Blackpool will be next

Just a quick follow up to my last post about Fylde and Wyre councils implementing the Waste Collector data mining system. I’ve had a look at my wheelie bins in and two of them have RFID chips already implanted. These are the non-recyclable waste (grey) bin and the garden/cardboard waste (green) bin.

The RFID chips are hidden under the lip of the bin.
