Whilst the Council are pumping money into more traffic calming bollocks on Bloomfield Road, their neglect for road maintenance becomes more and more prominent.
Drive around anywhere these days and there’s a good chance you will find pot holes in the road. Take Highfield Road, Ansdell Road, Central Drive, Condor Grove, and so on: all have big chunks of tarmac missing.
Fortunately we are approaching the annual April spendathon where excess monies are blown on redesigning junctions, adding endless traffic lights to busy thoroughfares and ensuring that plenty of roadworks are going on. I hope to see potholes being sorted out!

How difficult is it to ensure our road system is kept in a resonable condition newton drive is full of craters which you have to career around to avoid damaging your vehicle obviously blackpool council have not yet had enough claims for damage vehicles due to poor maintenace of the road system to take any note of yet.

They have to repair and respond under government guidelines.
The only problem is they also only have to do patched repairs to meet the requirements

Perhap they could get an EU grant to plant trees in some of the bigger ones, they could then probably get another EUgrant for being a green council.

No doubt one of the spin doctors at the council could make that sound like a really positive thing for Blackpool to do. It would attract extra birds and other wildlife and insects etc.
The trees could also be used as emergency toilets for dogs, and used as extra traffic calming roundabouts, they could help with global warming, repairing the ozone layer. We could all have a green place to live and work. I think it’s a wonderful idea.

To be fair this isn’t just a Blackpool problem, there are pot holes all over the place in most roads I’m driving on in North Staffs and South Cheshire at the moment.
On a seperate but related point does anyone know what the total cost of road repairs is in the UK?

About £7.6billion for England according to page 140 of the Transport Statistics for Great Britain 2009.
Doesn’t even come close to the £25billion from road tax, never mind petrol tax and council tax. Learn to love the motorist Zim, for he pays for all your public transport pleasure
