Right-leaning Blackpool blog covering South Shore, North Shore, Marton, Bispham, Cleveleys and the rest of the Fylde discussing politics, local life, tourism, national issues and the rest of the world. Lively discussions encouraged!
I made a comment on the arse wipe, a couple of weeks ago asking if it was ‘just me’ or could everyone else not vote. You really have to laugh at the state of the local rag, I can’t believe local people still take it seriously.
They have also been censoring some of my comments much to my great annoyance. I wrote a comment the other day saying to Labour sympathiser ‘cardy’ that Labour just squanders money the country doesn’t have and I said cuts are necessary to balance the books and it got ‘Removed by Administrator’. I also wrote a comment the other day about Marsden noting how the only reason his ‘Second Home Allowance’ claims are so ‘low’ is because he uses it for his small Blackpool flat and the Gasjet refused to restore it while ALL the Labour supporters comments were restored. They have also banned the word ‘Liebour’ on their word filter. Censorship or what? There is something fishy going on.
They are very Labour biased. I reported a Cardy comment as being just pro-Labour anti Tory with no justification or link to the article at all. And that was restored when the morning’s restoration of comments by mystery deleter was passed.
Mind you I have to wonder at the link between lack of intelligence and Labour support at the paper. Maybe they think electricity’s like yeast? Or maybe they meant hydro-electric?
Very well said Frustrated, Labour supporters can say what they like and anyone else gets censored, it is not right. I would complain to Johnston Press but as I can’t prove anything, I’d probably be wasting my time.
It’s appalling how biased that newspaper is towards Labour. I always thought the bias was related to the council in power but clearly it isn’t and it’s political. I wonder how much money they are being bunged from Labour sources.
Personally i dont think they are biased towards any political party.
I truly belive that they dont give a toss what you have to say on the comments section, and so they just remove anything negative or whatever.
The guys who have power over that website are 18-21 college leavers looking to improve their CV’s and litter it with “journalism” and “web design”
And before anybody is too quick to fire back at this, i personally know one of the old web designers for the gazette, and they told me they were regularly asked to remove any comments that were against what the article was about.
They wouldnt have the comments system if they could help it, they dont care.
I can completely believe that, they don’t give a toss. But I think they are politically biased towards Labour, here is some of my evidence for the prosecution;
- The word ‘Liebour’ has been banned on their word filter, its hardly offensive is it?
- Past comments I have written passing criticism of Jack Croysdill and Gordon Marsden (without going overboard!) were ‘Removed by Administrator’.
- The unbelievably excessive publicity they gave Marsden for his ‘demonstrations’ on St Georges Baths, a grotty old swamp nobody even cared about.
- The censorship of other commenters who have written anti-Labour comments while comments attacking the Conservatives by resident Labour lovers have always been restored.
Your honour, I move the jury return a guilty verdict on the charge of political bias.
