I’m off to the “adults only” Warner Leisure hotel at Bodelwyddan Castle tomorrow until Wednesday: I’m sure TB will keep you nicely informed with the latest goings on. But I thought I’d let you know that Live In Blackpool‘s new citizen journalism portal has – in the last half an hour – just opened.
Thanks to Zim Flyer and his team, you will find a mix of the latest local news from Blackpool and the Fylde area written not by second rate journalists but by local people themselves, voicing eclectic opinions on all things Blackpool with a bit of Wyre and Fylde for good measure!
Each article is linked to the accompanying forums that have been running for the best part of two months now and have already attracted over 5,000 posts and over 60 members.
If you want to state the pros and cons of the BNP it’s not the place for that (I think politics is banned on there after one of my rants), but if you want to discuss Blackpool news, tourism information, experiences and pretty much anything else, Live In Blackpool is the place.
I wish them luck with their new magazine style entry page and look forward to enjoying the creativity of their writers. Hands off True Blackpudlian Zim – he’s mine!

Have a good holiday Phil unfortunately I’m on nights until Thursday so I won’t be around as much. But I’m sure I will find some time to write an article or two.
loading...
Don’t worry, feel free to write as much or little as you like
Just make sure Labour don’t get let off the hook for anything!
loading...
Oh, you can be safe in the knowledge that won’t happen, have a good holiday
loading...
Cheers Phil you are a star and definately no poaching of TB which is a shame as he is just the sort of chap we need.
Have a great holiday mate you deserve it.
loading...
I might come and make some non-political contributions to your site ZF, I have had a look and it looks like an excellent site.
loading...
Cheers TB you would be more than welcome.
Best of all there is no deleter so your posts and articles will still be there in the morning.
Cheers
Zim
loading...
Well… there’s no deleter but there’s ZF and JR Ewing! Hehe
Nah, seriously, we’re a happy bunch and won’t delete comments and the like, you’ll be made welcome (unless your name is Dave…)
loading...
Phil thanks for the kind comments but do keep the political chat coming !
I’m not always in as bad a mood as I was on Friday…
Besides today’s “Brown is a Bully” revelations have got me foaming at the mouth
loading...
Thanks everybody, the site is only just over 4 weeks old and we cover just about everything in and around Blackpool.
Its brilliant that Phil has joined up, and we welcome new members..
Thanks
Peter

All the best Phil!

It is great to see such a positive site about Blackpool from people that really do care about Blackpool unlike some of the negative Gazette commenters.

[...] http://liveinblackpool.co.uk/magazine/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/ Comments [0]Digg it!Facebook [...]
yes TB, the Gazette is a joke,I se all the comments about the 250k spend to stop the tithebarn project have been deleted.
loading...
Well said Harold I am fuming, I never even got to read many of them because I have been away from home since yesterday lunchtime. But that Labour supporter ‘oldbloke’ is going around making ridiculous accusations claiming the Tories are deleting the comments critical of the council. Grow up oldbloke, the fucking deleter is NOT a tory it is some stupid kids pissing about with the site. If anything it is the anti-Liebour comments that get deleted the most.
loading...
oldbloke is like the PM; lost the plot,100%.
I have never know a political situation like this one where all 3 parties are so similar, its hard to make out what they stand for, well we know what labour stands for any way.
waste
waste
waste……….

Precisely one of the 75 billion reasons I will not vote Labour and I have ruled out UKIP for obvious reasons, so its Conservative or Lib Dem for me. I will vote based on what I see from each candidate in the coming months.
loading...
I just wished the conservatives were just that, CONSERVATIVE, but they have been corrupted by PC, why, why why?
If DC said that he would scrap , the PC nanny-equality-elf and safety state, massively reduce immigration, he would ,imho get MASSIVE support and my vote!
why cant he see that?
Thats why I feel compelled to vote BNP, but I would prefer to vote for a TRUE Conservative party.
loading...
That’s fair enough Harold, I understand where you’re coming from, sometimes I wish they would be more Conservative on some issues.
loading...
We need a return to traditional values in this country,40 yaers of PC liberalism has caused utter chaos.
we need a return to:
personal responsibility and freedom of expression etc
end to welfareism
high standards in education, not labours watering down farce!
corporal/capital punishment
rights of teachers/parents to enforce discipline
right of self defence
reward for hard work.
The family/marriage.
massively reduced immigration
strong armed forces.
These in my view were TRUE tory values and we need them more than ever, and I support them.I must be an out of date conservative, lol
loading...
I completely agree with those, you should write a post on it Harold.
loading...
I will be setting up my own site TB,I have got another hard drive and installed server 2003 on it, then its a matter of designing pages, I am a newbie at this but I have so much to say,Phil (god bless him) will advise.
I feel so strongly at what happened to this great country of ours, another thing i hate is labours denigration of patroiotism.
I identify with columnists like peter hitchens, melanie phillips, rod liddle and the economist Thomas Sowell, a great african american who opposed positive discrmination.
labour are out to destroy this country in a way that would have shocked Adolf Hitler.
loading...
Sounds very interesting, I look forward to seeing it, Peter Hitchens and Melanie Phillips are excellent columnists, you just have to see them on Question Time to see they are not afraid to speak their minds and that is no bad thing.
loading...
Indeed they are, they are the voice of True conservatism, true conservatism belives in real equality, based on MERIT, where race etc is ignored.
If we have a black PM, its because of their leadership skills and values NOT their race as a labour would want.
Labour is Liberal Fascism, the most dangerous form of fascism.
Labour want to homogonise society with pc multicultralism.
We need a renassiance of conservative values to save this country, help people to HELP themselves, labour breeds learned helplessness and dependency.
Orwell was spot on.
loading...
13 years of labour has brought out the TRUE conservative within me.
Get my drift, Mr Cameron?
Wake up!
loading...
Does that mean I’m on own voting BNP Harold
loading...
No mate, I am voting BNP as well, rest assured on may the 6th,its the BNP for me, lol and I will enjoy telling the labour rep at the polling station why I am voting BNP; becuase of LABOUR!
loading...
Apologies for going off topic I may have to write an article on this subject but whilst I’m on a rant about class wars check this out a list of current Labour MPs who attended public schools http://www.workingclasstory.com/2009/12/labour-toffs.html

Bring it on tb!

Written by locals? How many of them other than the emotional jelly of an NHS worker actually live in Blackpool?
loading...
No idea. Who’s the jelly?
loading...
Not very nice Troy..
Maybe you have experienced our site and found it was not to your liking.
Maybe you should be more positive about things and enjoy your life instead of wasting it, hidden behind your keyboard venting your frustrations at your computer screen, like a delinquent and frustrated ex member..
loading...
Why don’t we qualify ‘locals’ a bit more then.
Most of the tram news comes from myself or Andrew, and while neither of us are local we both know our stuff when it comes to the trams – I’d reckon a lot more than the sad chap who can be arsed to write this – and indeed i’m the Editor and he’s the Assistant Editor of the Tramways Monthly E-Magazine… if we didn’t know what we were on about would I have started probably the most successful (someone else’s words, not mine) tram magazine there is? I reckon not.
To further question your comment we’ve got a number of Blackpool visitors or residents writing on it – why do local people /have/ to write something? Indeed, in my experience of journalism (which is probably much more than you will ever have if the most you can do is anonymously slag off websites – have some balls and own up!) the best stories actually come from people who have an interest in something but aren’t connected with it – so in this case someone who visits Blackie but doesn’t live there.
Get a life and grow up.
loading...
Perhaps I mis-sold the site in that I said articles would be written by local people. I guess he’s got me on that one!
loading...
I don’t think so Phil, granted initially there’s only two(?) writing but who says it’s going to stay like that? We’ve had plenty of interest from lots of members about joining up, so let’s wait and see.
Like everything, it takes time to get started but with anonymous c**** like Troy here running around slagging everything off then that’s never going to happen. That said though, no-one is going to take an anon seriously; or at least in my 5 years of running/being involved in websites no-one has!
loading...
I don’t disagree! I’m just clarifying that he’s quoting what I said and at the time I was factually incorrect.
I don’t dispute that there will be more authors and some current ones will be relocating to the town at some point in the near future and I agree with your second point fully.
PS you don’t have to blank out naughty words on here
loading...
Articles are being written by local people though Phil.
Keyboard Warriors like Troy – come on and have the balls to actually say who you really are – are just part and parcel of the downside of running a site that’s becoming more popular by the day. Who knows he might even be the Gazette’s very own “Phantom Deleter”.
loading...
Yeah I know, but at the time I wrote the article Peter was the only one, so on that technicality Troy is actually correct.
It doesnt really bother me, I just like reading entertaining and controversial stuff by people that care about what they’re writing about!
loading...
Maybe Troy should stick to his day job, like cleaning the Bogs on the Central Pier..!
Live In Blackpool is a site that was set up by a Team of dedicated people to try and provide interesting information about this superb town.
Troy maybe you could set your own site up..?
Something that you specialise in, lets say for example Toilet cleaning..you could even call it Live In Harpic..
Its a shame that Phils superb site is spoilt by Internet Warriors like Troy..
loading...
Oi, the balls part is mine!
loading...
Plus I’m moving to Blackpool around May.
Troy Smythe could you post a link to your site so we could have a look at your effort in either discussing Blackpool or promoting it?
loading...
Late in the day, but this is simply to say Thanks to the team(s) of people who have launched and now maintain the site. Inevitably there are resident “I Know Best” ranters, but that is one of the costs of maintaining freedom of expression – please keep up the good work.

[...] Labelled an “emotional jelly” by one commenter on here, Peter Mowbray admits that he has “managed web sites for years”, but this is not the first time he has stormed off from one. You may remember a site called Live From Blackpool, and Mr Mowbray was on the team there. After some fiery internal politics, the outcome was that he didn’t get his own way and departed to form his own site, the original Live In Blackpool. [...]
