There was an announcement in the Gazette the other day that Labour Leader Ivan Taylor is standing down as leader (happy days!) but not as a councillor (shame). As anyone knows I am no fan of Liebour, their 13 years of damage to the country and 16 miserable years in charge of the council show they can’t run a bath let alone a council/county/country.
When Roy Fisher was ousted in May 2007 I jumped with joy that one of the worst council leaders in Blackpool history had been dumped on the political scrapheap, he lost his seat as well as Labour leadership. So long-established Councillor Ivan Taylor took the helm and within 10 days of the coronation of the new council he showed Labour’s true colours with negative campaigning launching a stinging smear attack on the new council saying I quote ‘I fear for Blackpool’, as gracious in defeat as ever. For the record Coun Dougie Green Lib Dem leader said ‘we will work with the new council to do what’s best for Blackpool’. All Taylor and his cronies do is moan and smear the new council.
Now I am not saying the new Council are perfect but certainly a significant improvement on the disastrous Fisher administration (good riddance!).
However Taylor is not alone in his rants. Local [unelected] Labour mouthpiece Jack Croysdill is foverever in the Gazette moaning about something new every week or defending Brown’s appalling record in Government. Croysdill is like our very own Victor Meldrew, he will turn the smallest things political no matter what the subject. He once wrote letters to the Gazette moaning about a few dim lightbulbs on the Illuminations, a technical fault surely. No not for him, it was because we have a Tory Council, I have never heard anything so ludicrous. If you’re unhappy about the quality of the lights then by all means complain but don’t turn everything political for the sake of argument.
Then of course there is Clive Grunshaw, Fleetwood Labour loyalist and PPC. Like Croysdill constantly writes into the Gazette with misguided attacks and negative campaigning against the Conservatives blaming everything wrong with the country on previous Governments. Then he wrote a letter yesterday demanding the people of Fleetwood vote for him because he is ‘the only candidate who lives in Fleetwood’. I’m sorry if I recall the seat is called LANCASTER and Fleetwood and all the candidates live in the constituency. He persistently claims he is ‘dedicated’ to Fleetwood but from what I have seen of him he seems more interested in political pointscoring to advance his political ambitions.
We should make a documentary on these 3; Grumpy Old Men Lancashire style, feel free to add your own additions.

This is usual for me !.
But I can’t agree with some of your statement.
Ivan was a true fighter for progress as a councillor. I know this to be a fact however with the type and quality of fellow councillors that were coming into the council.
I feel that was the reason for such a comment – The town is led by self opinionated clowns.
I feel his original views were strong and commited (thats why he got into politics) but sadly bowed down to his peers due lack of backing.
Sadly I think he was correct.
The council all sides needs Backbone not sound bites that come to nothing.
Prehaps thats why NWDA have so much say !

The NWDA are a total waste of space and money, I support the Conservative proposal to scrap these wasteful quangos and distribute funding from Central Government to Local Government cutting out the middle man.

well said TB!

Clive Grunshaw is an absolute Cretin, I hate WBC but hes no answer either, I want labour to be wiped off the map at all levels, local and national.I have never seen Grunshaw complainig about WBCs plans to overload the already overloaded road network;hes another me first fuck you politician.Hes never backed TAG or offered support.Local non partisans like the TAG chairman, Howard Philips who is retired have done more that that tosser.
Callow is only .000001% beter than Fisher, which is a lot as Fisher = 0.
Locally we have a bunch of weak useless crooked politicians, like Russell Foreskin,Anal vincent etc from both main parties apart from Ben Wallace MP who I do admire but isnt my MP.
Rant over, May 6th couldnt come quick enough.

I like Ben Wallace he is a true MP of principle. He was the first MP to openly declare his expenses. While Marsden and Humble have took all measures to keep their’s under wraps. They also voted against expense system reforms and against transparent parliament. Yet when I presented this fact on the Gasjet they censored it.

Hes a atop guy, I just wished he was my MP, I am stuck with that uselss twat: Bumble.

Hey TB did u see QT last night?
That execrable liberal apologist Peter (piss-stain) Hain was on, what a repulsive, oily, conceited, noisome, unctious, grubby toss rag that creature is.He has the look of a primary school headmaster whos just been convicted of child rape, yet remains unrepentant.

No I was on night duty so I missed it but I’ll watch it on catch-up later. I can’t stand Peter Hain, smug arrogant git that he is. Labour panellists on QT always resort to smearing and negative campaigning. When questionned about something they have done wrong they either dodge the question with a half-arsed diversion or say ‘Its not as bad as what the last Government did’. But the panellists who really get on my nerves are George Galloway (socialist cretin) and trade unionists who just use QT as an excuse to rant about Maggie curbing their powers, no bad thing in my view. I am currently researching for an article on trade unions and the BA strikes.
loading...
Maggie hasn been in power for decades, anyway the unions had to be controlled and I am a member of a union, they were run by communist nut cases.
They wrecked the economy in the 70s!
loading...
My point precisely, they are far too powerful as the greed and selfishness of the overpaid pampered BA staff proves all too well.
loading...
Peter Hain is as sleazy as any of the previous Government; he has no credibility whatsoever.
He was after all forced to resign for accepting over £100k in donations and not declaring any of it.
loading...
Hes fetid filth, nothing less.
loading...
well siad TB, that is spot on!!!
My union the PCS wants a strike but I wont be striking, why give back 2 days money???
Anyway its over nothing!

The new coalition Government is barely just settling in and he’s at it already read this for a good laugh http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/letters/Letters–June-2.6336082.jp He always bangs on about public services like all socialists trying to scaremonger people. He is too blindly loyal to admit that Labour wasted all our money and drove our economy into the ground. Labour is the reason we have a £160bn deficit.
