Humble crumbles

Live in Blackpool is reporting that Joan Humble has pulled out of the next election campaign!

Apparently she wants to spend more time with her family. I heard a couple of months ago that Labour would be shifting Joan elsewhere anyway (perhaps she didn’t like this idea) and that Simon Blackburn would be standing, so it’ll be interesting to see whether this happens.

Doesn’t give the Labour PPC much time to get a campaign going, maybe it’s a foregone conclusion that they’re going to lose Blackpool North.

  1. They could actually move her to another seat because I have heard it is an unwritten rule in Parliament that it is seen as ‘wrong’ to move seats without boundary changes. So boundary changes are a perfect excuse to save the skin of MPs who are heading for a loss. I hope they do put Blackburn up, it will hopefully bring that cocky arrogant sod down a peg or two when Labour gets battered in Blackpool North and Cleveleys. Ben Wallace has Wyre and Preston North pretty much safe and hopefully Fleetwood and Lancaster won’t fall into Grunshaw’s hands, Fylde is definitely not Labour turf. But most importantly hopefully Marsden will be ousted in Blackpool South, then hopefully Liebour will be wiped out on the whole Fylde Coast for good.

  2. For the record Dolly the Sheep actually pointed this out about 11am yesterday morning (in about the only constructive post she has made on here) but it landed in the spam box.

  4. The more Labour MPs removed the better. Although it’s got to be enough to give Tories a majority. I think the only thing worse than another Labour government would be the Lib Dems effectively calling the shots in a Hung Parliament.

Nick Clegg in government is as scary as thought as they come. Give me Farage or Griffin any day of the week.

    • Spot on Dr Bunsen, I want the fringe parties to gain at the expense of the mainstream effete.

The whole political landscape needs a fundamental change.

      • Excellent comments, the Lib Dems being calling the shots worries me too. They do occasionally have some sensible policies but they are spoilt by some of the plain ludicrous ideas they have as well and generally speaking they are a bit too left wing for me. I worry that if we had a hung parliament despite Lib Dem claims they are on noone’s side I reckon they would form a coalition with Liebour. Does anyone remember not that long ago in Wales when Plaid Cymru claimed they were forming a coalition with the Conservatives and Lib Dems to shut Labour out, but then all of a sudden they sided with Labour and Labour stranglehold over Wales continues.

        • TB are the lib dems tory leaning, labour leaning or neither?

          • I would say they definitely have a lot more in common with Labour than the Conservatives. The Lib Dems are often seen as the most left-wing of the 3 main parties. Like I say they have some good ideas occasionally and they have some good people like Vince Cable often seen as most people’s dream chancellor.

    • That would be great if he would accept it, he is a very good economist and very popular with voters, he actually won the seat Paul Maynard contested in 2005. But hopefully Mr Maynard will be safely striding into BN&C in a few months time.

  6. paul will be my next mp, although i will be voting bnp, i wont complain.

    • I support restrictions on immigration, it is NOT ‘racist’ to say immigration should be capped. Its like when Labour supporters speak with disgust at the thought of ‘Tory cuts’ like cardy on thr Gasjet site. Why can’t he grasp the simple concept you don’t keep spending when the Government has bankrupted us and the piggy bank is empty. Its the same with immigration, if there is too many people coming then we need limits, it is practicality not racism.

  9. “I support restrictions on immigration, it is NOT ‘racist’ to say immigration should be capped”

Never a truer word spoken. However, “racist” is the one size-fits all reply that anybody on the fascist left trots out to people who voice legitimate concerns on immigration.

    • Precisely, they are the ones who are racist turning people down for jobs because they don’t tick enough boxes and are not ‘PC’ enough.

  10. You should have seen some of the crap davie@layton was spouting this morning on the Humble article. He was banging on about how Blackpool is a ‘good solid Labour area’, uh no we’re not, Blackpool is a Conservative town that has just had the misfortune of being lumped with 2 useless Labour MPs. Then he said we need a ‘good LOCAL candidate’ yeah you mean like I’m too good for Blackpool Gordon Marsden. Then he turned his venom on Paul Maynard saying he is ‘upper crust’ and just pops by Blackpool a few times a month. Mr Maynard lives in Blackpool and has done for 3 years, he is NOT upper crust, he is a decent down-to-earth guy. Then when I challenged davie@Labour about that derogatory remark pointing out Marsden attended public school and Oxbridge and he replied ‘He went to Oxbridge nowt wrong with that’, what a fucking hypocrite. if you’re a Tory and you attend a public school you are ‘upper crust’ if its Labour you are ‘one of the people’, davie needs to take his Labour-rose tinted specs off. He also got the ridiculous idea that Marsden was born and bred in Blackpool, no he wasn’t another lie. davie’s comments are a joke and I can’t hold him to account because some stupid fucker has deleted all the comments AGAIN except (coincidentally) for the pro-Humble ones.

  11. There’s an article in the Gasjet today (not on the site) mentioning two more potential candidates; Penny Martin and some guy called Gary Wareing a Hull train driver originally from Fleetwood and his comment made me laugh out loud he said “I have been Labour all my life, I joined because I want a fairer, better society without unemployment, discrimination or social inequality”. What planet does this guy live on, Labour knows nothing about fair society they have done everything to oppose fairness. LABOUR OUT 2010!!!!
