I’m not really surprised by this but it came out two days ago that out of 88,536 incidents of police officers caught speeding on duty last year only 153 were prosecuted. And these were only the ones caught on camera.
If there was ever any doubt that the police service is a self-serving old boy’s club, this is it.
I’ve experienced the police driving recklessly many a time, with them tailgating me on the motorway, cutting me up and hitting the brakes and obviously the classic incidents where the police car approaches red traffic lights, turns the blues and twos on to pass through them, then turns them off again. There are plenty of occasions when police cars overtake at well beyond the speed limit without their lights or sirens on.
Seasiders Way through the central gateway in Blackpool is a well known police racetrack (look out for morons in a dark coloured 5-series BMW) and you’ll also see highly trained police wasting time gossiping whilst sat on horses around the football club when they should be out there doing their fucking job. Similarly, you will sometimes see police cars and Transit vans racing side by side down Squires Gate Lane at night.
We shouldn’t be surprised. After all, PC Mark Milton (who looks like the stereotypical wanker traffic copper) was let off whilst doing 159mph. He was going to no emergency, and wasn’t even going for a tea break. He just wanted to race his car down the motorway and abused his position as a police driver in order to do so.
There’s no accountability anywhere in our corrupt public sector society.

Fantastic article, I lost any respect I had for the police when I had a very bad experience as a victim of crime a few years back and they have done themselves no favours trying to win it back. There is this ridiculous double standards culture where we have one rule for the police and another rule for the law-abiding public. There was a story in the Telegraph the other week where an obstetrician got done for driving at 36mph while rushing to his hospital in the early hours and saved a woman’s life and even got a letter from his Chief Executive accounting for it. So what do the police do? They pursue the case. It was only because of media uproar they dropped it. Their reckless behaviour comes as no surprise to me at all, modern police are overpaid underworked and poorly trained. We deserve better with more accountability.
PS Scrap PCSOs they are total waste of taxpayers money.

Yeah, the police always do. It’s just a shame the same attention to detail isn’t proffered when probing their own abuses of position.
But hey after seeing Ali Dizaei get jailed for being a corrupt power abuser I hope to see a few more coppers getting slapped with real punishments instead of being let off by their old boys club.

The Police are a ‘PC’ police and a product of Labour, this comes as no surprise.
Things can only improve when this party is oblitereated off the political scene.

The police have lost all the faith of the public. That’s because they like persuing the middle class’s minor crimes (2 mph over the limit at night) rather than more nasty doley criminals who might warrant some work to process and who you can’t successfully slap with a fine.
Well as we’re paying their wages I don’t see why we just can’t stop. I’d rather have to go out with a cricket bat to any criminal then spend my hard earned money keeping these useless tossers in employment. Pay for them to be on the dole instead and we’ll save a fortune and be much happier.
