I know this is very similar to my earlier post Blackpool South Roll Call but I feel in election mood.
Blackpool South has suffered 13 years of Labour neglect and incompetence at the hands of Brighton (and sometimes Blackpool) MP Gordon Marsden. The bottom line is we need CHANGE. But there are still legions of people still gullible enough to vote this useless career politician back in.
I care deeply about Blackpool and I want to see my town regenerate successfully and move into the 21st century. I want to laugh in the smug ugly faces of hasbeens like Jim Davidson and Paul Daniels and tell them to keep their nasty vindictive comments to themselves. I want to see Blackpool become a more high quality place. But a Labour Government is doing NOTHING to help that cause.
As I have said change is the solution, we need an MP who will fight for Blackpool, put Blackpool first, someone who actually lives in the area (I don’t care where they were born) and someone who believes in the town.
Here is a rundown of the candidates to unseat Marsden
Ron Bell (Conservative); born and bred local lad but unfortunately tarnished by the Kensingtongate scandal, but the best tactical vote if like me you are desperate to get Marsden out.
Doreen Holt (Lib Dem), seems like a genuinely nice lady and I think would be a good voice for Blackpool.
Roy Goodwin (BNP) don’t really know much about Mr Goodwin, maybe Harold could fill me in?
Dr X (awaiting Bill) local GP (Integrity); Yet to be named local GP standing for interesting new party Integrity, definitely worth consideration.
Hamish Howitt (UKIP); Local ex-publican and general pro-smoking muppet who branded regeneration ‘a waste of money’. Not recommended at all if you care about Blackpool.
My predictions
1. Conservative
2. Labour
3. Lib Dem
4-5 Integrity/BNP
6. UKIP.
UKIP normally poll reasonably well here but Hamish has alienated many traditional/undecided UKIP voters including me, I was considering them until they announced Hamish, they are nothing but a joke at the moment.

I dont know much about Roy, TB.My man is James Clayton.I would think twice about Ron Bell,if he gets in,imagine what Callows junta will be able to do?
More mismanaged regeneration?
I would give serious consideration to the Lib dems,Doreen Holt.
Ron Bell if that video is anything to go by, is weak;hes in the Kensington party, NOT the tories, and hes really shit his nest from what I have heard.
loading...
The candidate who intrigues me the most is the yet to be named (come on Bill who is it?) local GP standing for Integrity. I am certainly not backing UKIP as long as Howitt and Hogan are on board.
loading...
Howitt is a non entity. You want an MP who is likely to oust Marsden but who isnt rotten or in the pocket of developers and who will stand up for Blackpool.Theres only one choice, given the need for experience etc;thats Doreen Holt.
In your position I would go for Doreen Holt, forget Bell end hes rotten and a Callowite.Shes the logical choice, shes non labour and non Callowite;both are very important facts here.
If Bell end gets in, you have not only a council in the pocket of developers but also an MP,that can not be allowed to happen. You could end up wanting Marsden back!!!

Gordon Marsden has started is election campaign already he was sat next to me at the town hall on thursday during the meeting on the KENSINGTON HOUSING APPLICATION at which he did a lot of jeering from the upper public gallery, after 13 years as MP for Blackpool South and a few weeks away from a general election Gordon has started jeering at the conservatives and saying words like it’s not government policy to build on greenfield land if that is the case then why has the the government not put a stop to this type of destruction of our open spaces, once you have have build on it it’s gone forever.bothsides of parliament are as bad and corrupt as one another.
loading...
In fairness to the government they have stopped development on Greenfield sites in other areas like Thornton. I not sure how this system works, but can’t you appeal against the local plan to build on the moss direct to the government?
loading...
I hope that can be done, is it a judicial review?
loading...
I agree Petrer, neither must be voted for, Doreen Holt is the only viable solution imho.
loading...
The doctor may be Dr Tunn ( hope I am wrong, certanly am with the spelling) He was in Lib Dems and wanted to be MP for Blackpool South (where his practise is).
He lives near Bill in St Annes, so is possible. Very nice chap but will get even less votes than Fag end party.
He can afford to lose deposit (have you seen how much GP’s are paid).
Thanks to you all for listening to my radio features. Future features may also be broadcast on/via a local internet station with thousands more listeners.

I most admit to find Integrity interesting but with no policies then you are voting for the candidate and not the party (that’s fair to say I hope). I think in local elections that might work well (smaller set of voters better chance of getting to know the person) but on a national scale there is no way you will be able to get know what sort of person they are. I think on this one Integrity are running before they can walk wouldn’t it be better to get Integrity councillors in place which the public can get to know and hopefully trust and from these select a PPC in another general election.
loading...
Interesting, I have never met Dr Tun but I would certainly vote for a pillar of the community like him than pro-smoking Howitt. I think GPs are paid a good wage for a very difficult job. Don’t believe all the media hype about them working 2 days a week and all that rubbish. GPs are very highly skilled doctors who have a lot of responsibility. When we have low skilled workers on obscence amounts like BA cabin crew £30k and railway signalmen on £50k why shouldn’t GPs earn six-figures and to be honest most of them don’t. The average is about £70-80k which I think is perfectly reasonable.
Best of luck Integrity, come on Bill, who is the mystery candidate?
loading...
There is of course a Dr Clayton in Cleveleys, who has a lot to say about things. Perhaps his son will be BNP MP for Blackpool North and he will be Integrity MP for Blackpool South.
Perhaps there will be a balanced Parliament and next time there will be a decent fair election by Single Transferable Vote.
loading...
Yes I read Barrys trenchant letters and his son James is standing as PPC for the BNP;I will be voting for the BNP and I am proud to say that.
I want to see real change and the preservation of this nation and its traditions, say No to mass immigration,PC, multicultralism and the EU, say yes to Great Britain.BNP ALL THE WAY.
loading...
I used to like Hamish and respect him for letting us all have a fag in his booze but to have rebranded regeneration as a “waste of money” makes him sound like a bit of a breast really.
loading...
To be fair to Hamish, I don’t think he has branded “regeneration” as a waste of money, probably just the Blackpool regeneration plans. I too believe that most of the Blackpool plans are just pie in the sky – they ain’t gonna happen! so on that basis, they are a waste of money!
Is Bill Greene the only candidate arguing for more civil service jobs to come to the Fylde Coast? We already have the infrastructure in place and the prospective employees here. We should be concentrating on real jobs not pie in sky possible jobs!
loading...
But as far as I am concerned it proves Hamish doesn’t give a toss about Blackpool. He has no policies, no plans and no visions, this is all about his personal agenda.
On the other hand though I do agree about the civil service jobs, it is about time the public sector became less London-centric, there is a need for jobs outside the M25. Blackpool needs more high quality jobs.
loading...
There are plans to move jobs out as part of cuts, actually Blackpool may benefit and that would be good for the local economy.
All these whitehall civil servants will end up living on the moss.
loading...
Exactly everbody wins as far as I can see. Blackpool and other areas get more decent jobs in the area and because the North is a much cheaper area land/property wise it is much cheaper to house these Government agencies.
loading...
interesting to see the BNP bussing candidates in from Warrington for local seats http://www.people.co.uk/news/tm_headline=i-live-and-breathe-the-bnp%26method=full%26objectid=22143448%26siteid=93463-name_page.html

BNP = Rascist Scum
loading...
Anyone who criticises immigration, pc and multicultralism is a ‘racist’ these days, the word has lost its original meaning, not surprising under this Orwellian PC government.
Labour = racist scum, labour has created a political culture where race matters, personally I dont care about race, but I despise the POLITICS of race, just look at Harriet Harmans policies.Shes the best recruiting seargent for the BNP.
This is all down to labour, noone else.
loading...
Well said Harold; it is ridiculous how you are branded a ‘racist’ for calling for caps on immigration or calling for radical clerics preaching hatred to be deported. It sickens me how doctors, nurses, teachers etc are being turned away from the UK while radical clerics going around saying ‘Death to all Britons’ are being welcomed in and we are paying to keep them here. Labour are the true racists giving preference to minority candidates for jobs. ‘Positive’ discrimination is not good for diversity, it is racism pure and simple. When I go to hospital, call the police (if they bother to turn up!!!) or fire brigade. I want to know the people doing that job were selected on the basis of merit because they are the most able and suitable candidate. I don’t get any consolation from being treated by an incompetent doctor just because they meet the targets.
loading...
Good I detest labour and tory equally, good luck to the BNP.
loading...
I really want to go UKIP given the betrayal over the Lisbon Treaty!!
Is there any chance whatsoever Hamish will be replaced prior to election day?
Marsden.. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than vote for him…
Ron Bell is damaged goods and shouldn’t hold the position of councillor let alone MP.
Lib Dem never voted for them in my life but there is always a first time!!
Whilst I don’t agree with the half of what the BNP says I may be swayed to vote for them if they had a snowballs if only to send a message to who does take power that enough is enough on immigration.
Feck me decisions decisions!!! Two Months ago I had this all worked out!!

Unfortunately no one can be added once nominations have closed

re anyone voting Marsden should be sectioned, anyone voting labour should be sectioned.
Glass houses, stones?
Isn’t this authentic subdailymailspeak.
In my flats we have a dustbin and the daily mail headline was
We have to have nine kinds of recycling bin
Which the resident had underlined and written MADNESS in blue ballpen
We have a war in Afghanistan
Aircraft grounded by a volcano
Global warming
A frightening recession
And the Daily Mail can think of nothing more interesting than recycling bins.
So put on your navy blue jacket and your cream slacks and gird yourself up and think for God’s Sake what has Gordon Marsden done wrong that people who support him should be sectioned? And incidentally why does calling yourself integrity mean you’ve got integrity… would you lend money to someone called Honest Joe?
loading...
I believe that the failure of Ron Bell getting elected can be firmly laid at the door of Peter Callow due to his handling of the “MOSSGATE” affair..
We have lost what would have been an excellent M.P.
loading...
Hopefully this has given Doreen some closure and she can now start campaigning in Blackpool South. I do believe she is right about one thing! Ron Bells ineptitude has meant that Blackpool South can no longer be considered a two horse race.
loading...
I certainly hope so, all the best Coun Holt.
loading...
Doreen in,Ron Bell NEVER in,he has betrayed the electorate to KENSINGTONS.
loading...
My personal choice would be Coun Holt or the mystery Integrity candidate but the trouble is the Labour sheep will blindly vote Marsden before they have even read his negative campaign leaflets full of smears and attacks as always in a Labour leaflet. So unless a tidal wave of support moves to Lib Dems and Integrity (UKIP have no chance) Marsden will win. That’s why as I keep saying I might opt for a tactical vote just to get Marsden out.
loading...
Anyone voting Marsden should be sectioned, anyone voting LABOUR should be sectioned.
loading...
Too right, funny thing is though we are less than 8 weeks from the election (as far as we know) and yet I have not recieved any kind of campaign leaflets or anything yet. I wait with intrigue at recieving leaflets from Hamish just to see what crap he is peddling. I can visualise Marsden’s leaflet already, the usual Labour template downloaded from Labour HQ; smears, negative campaigning and spin. I will actually bother to read the leaflets before I decide who to vote. I have ruled out Marsden and Hamish but all the others are for the taking.
loading...
Marsden’s leaflet is a piece of USED TOILET PAPER; much like him.
