Just a heads up as to why the site has been experiencing problems this afternoon.
The site is hosted on a virtual server, which is in layman’s terms a very powerful computer running less powerful, virtual computers within its hardware. As a result, the bandwidth of the powerful computer is split between the virtual ones.
Some genius decided it would be a fine idea to use their virtual server to launch a denial of service attack on another machine somewhere on the internet. The implication here is that they were maxing out the bandwidth of the server’s connection to the world. Hence there was none left for me or you to use in order to access the site. In the process, the database appeared to have corrupted.
A few comments were lost, but as I take bi-hourly backups I only had to roll back to approx 5pm today.
I’m assured that the denial of service attacks have been halted by my ISP, however it still seems pretty slow so I have asked them to have another look.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

any ideas as to who is responsible?
MI5?
Peter callow?
Grodon Broon?
Phil, quick give Bill a ring to send round a cab to deter the criminal attacks.
Nah, this site wasn’t the victim of the attack, it was just collateral damage!
he he he, I’ve been chuckling away about that taxi thing all day.
