Just a day after Lord Adonis’ slapdown of the strikers and Willie Walsh’s condemnation of Labour’s dependence on financial backing from militant union Unite, the Prime Minister has today declared that the proposed strikes by British Airways cabin crew are ‘deplorable’ and ‘unjustified’.

In a BBC Radio 4 interview today, Gordon sided with the Transport Secretary;

“I agree. It is the wrong time, it is unjustified, it is deplorable, we shouldn’t have a strike.

It is not in the company’s interest, it is not in the workers’ interest and it is certainly not in the national interest.”

He then declared;

“the strike is both regrettable and not acceptable, I think it is worthy of effort to try and prevent it.”

Will Gordon Brown now go down in history alongside Mrs Thatcher for daring to take on the unions? Will there be a spat between Labour and its biggest donor, Unite?

Of course not. This is of course completely out of character with Labour, and is a publicity stunt to make Brown look like he has a backbone.

It would be funny if it backfired and he became as hated as Mrs Thatcher amongst his socialist peers, though.

The strike is a joke and it will wreck BAs customer base, why would anyone want to fly with that outfit?

30k is an amazing amount to get for what they do!

  2. Harold says:

Send in the cabbies to stop these criminal demands! lol

  3. Frustrated says:

Mmm – thinks a few opinion polls have been taken and Gordon told he will lose more votes in not saying he condemns the strike than he will be staying silent. He’s not going to have to give the £11 million back now. The funniest thing he’s been shouting at Baroness Ashton for being incompetent. If he’d tried that with me he’d have been told pot, kettle, black.

  4. Harold says:

Given that unite union have donated 11 million to labour and how labour have shafted the working calls, methinks they should ask for that money back and give it to the conservatives who will do more for the working class than labour, lol

btw Bill Lewtas for PM, lol!

  5. True Blackpudlian says:

It is an absolute disgrace. As Harold very rightly says £30k is an extremely excessive sum for such an easy job (and that is just the starting salary!!!) and yet they want more, greedy selfish bastards. But also the other reason for striking I find downright petty ‘drastically’ slashing staff numbers by 15 to 14, my heart bleeds not. I applaud Willie Walsh for not letting these militant unions bully him. Because we have a Labour Government unions know all they need to do is cry and stamp their feet and they have the Government in their pocket. I forsee The Summer of Discontent coming.

  6. Harold says:

It is TB like this government a TOTAL DISGRACE.

I was shocked at the wage, its incredible.

    • True Blackpudlian says:

Absolutely shocking, it is thanks to these militant unions that there are so many people in low-skilled jobs getting paid so much unjustly.

  7. Harold says:

see the news TB, unite have invested 11 million in labour???

Given what labour have done to the working class with immigration, |I would want my money back.

Unite should invest in the BNP instead.

  8. Harold says:

I know but liebour have screwed the working class by removing ambition, a nanny state, mass immigration and welfareism.

    • True Blackpudlian says:

Agree totally they are the root of most problems with society. Socialists don’t believe in aspiration and ambition and Labour shows that perfectly. LABOUR OUT 2010!!!!

  9. Harold says:

Labour out 2010, never to return, again!

  10. JR Ewing says:

Another shamless publicity stunt which, sadly, will no doubt fool many of the electorate and actually win him a few more votes.

Dont forget that this is the “Scot” who said Gazza’s goal at Euro 96 was one of the best he’d ever seen. The Scot who invited English journos round to watch England play and then pretend to support them as if he was St George.

The man who the country NEVER elected as Prime Minister. At the same time sending billions in aid to countries like India and China and funding our illegal wars.

Meanwhile back at home his take on “prudence” as left us economically fucked (sorry but bankrupt just doesn’t do the mess justice).

Now we’re hanging over a cliff here. Another 5 years of this idiot and his party and we may as well all just jump off it now. A sensible vote and we might just have a chance of hanging on.
