As True Blackpudlian mentioned yesterday, there was an article in the Gasjet about Integrity UK – the new political party founded on the Fylde Coast that I discussed 2 weeks ago.

There wasn’t really anything we didn’t know already, but it’s good that the local newspaper was able to break it’s political allegiance with the Labour party and publicise this new organisation.

The article found its way onto their website eventually and was greeted by the inevitable jeers of those sold to other parties wanting to trample on Integrity before it really gets going. Perhaps a little unfair although I am sure it was anticipated. The phantom deleter was in action too, erasing over 50% of the comments.

The leader of Integrity, Bill Whitehead, made the following statement;

“We’re trying to be straight, do things right and be honourable, unlike some of the politicians we have currently.

“We are now fully and officially registered as a political party and recognised by the Electoral Commission.

“It is now being launched initially on the Fylde and we have had a lot of interest. We have already got people signing up and we’ve had a few donations to help get off the ground.

“The important thing is there will be no manifesto and no policies, people who join will be truly independent.

“We may not change the world but we hope we can do some good.”

I wonder where they will contest their first seat…

I do hope they bring some common sense policy’s out soon,as I cannot vote for either of the two main stream party’s,cannot wait for the local elections as there are plenty of cab drivers who feel as though they have been stabbed in the back by the Conservatives in this town, and with more than 2000 employed in the taxi and private hire industry in this town there is a good chance that Fowler Evans and Callow get there back sides kicked, not forgetting Hasket and Mitchell who just do as Fowler tells them. Lets not forget these drivers all have partners as well as family’s who are also entitled to vote. Mind you a lot of the Labour councillors are just as bad,so don’t think you will be receiving my vote. I would like to see some new blood been elected into the town who are willing to vote on what they believe in, rather than tow the party line in order to stay on the gravy train.

Well Bill has the guts to give it a real go and isn’t just moaning about things. That must really get on the nerves of the moaners, the idle and the political parties who just vote however they are told to unthinkingly. No wonder most of the comments were deleted.

  3. Harold says:

Good on both Bills here,if they are in Wyre I will support them,I cant vote mainstream anymore.

  4. Bill says:

Hi folk there is only one Bill and I am in Fairhaven and Peter is in Wesham.
There is likely to be a parish council bi-election in Wrea with Ribby soon.

Its not commonsense polices we need, its common sense councillors with a free vote.

    I like that slogan Bill.

In fact I may well use something like it!

    • Philtheone says:

Sorry Jon I’ve now copyrighted those words in that order, so if you want to use them you have to now pay the princely sum of eight million Euros into my bank account in a Central American tax haven!

    • Bill says:

      John
      I thought you was lib-dem
or are you really an independent at heart

  6. Bill says:

I am just an ordinary guy with a big umbrella called Integrity UK, its for all independents to shelter under.

  7. Jonbamboro says:

I am a Lib Dem and in Westminster we have whips like the other parties but on the Council we do not.

Blackpool Lib Dem Councillors are NEVER told how to vote.

The Lab/Cons could never get to grips with the idea that we actually voted the way we wanted to, not the way Peter Callow, Roy Fisher, Ivan Taylor or Simone Blackburn tells them to!

    • Neb says:

“Simone Blackburn” so s/he really is trying to get on the all wimmin Labour shortlist for the Blackpool North and Cleveleys :D Won’t fool any one though

      • Troobloo says:

I dunno, compared to quite a few wimmin Labour MPs Simone is very feminine, quite fetching with her peroxide lezza cut and earing

Simone won’t give up until all avenues are exhausted!!!

Shes had it far too easy so far, just wait till she becomes Leader!

Then the skeletons will begin to emerge!

  8. Neb says:

Best of luck Bill. I’m predicting more independents all over the Fylde Coast as dissillusionment with the professional politicians local and national increases
