Right-leaning Blackpool blog covering South Shore, North Shore, Marton, Bispham, Cleveleys and the rest of the Fylde discussing politics, local life, tourism, national issues and the rest of the world. Lively discussions encouraged!
Why ouch? Growth has slowed in percentage terms but is still growing in actual terms despite the recession and profits are growing much more rapidly. So ultimately they’re getting more out of us both in number of sales and profit margin though a lot of the sales growth is from new stores. Where’s the issue I’ve missed?
Well maybe they follow the spelling our elected councillors. That spelling of bigot as “bigott” annoys me in the Ian Duffy quote – and one of Fylde’s councillors was put through the standards board process and found guilty for calling someone a bigot. (Mind you a quarter of all the councillors have been reported to the Standards Committee).
I posted a comment on your board as to why – because it clearly shows what cars I own on my drive. If all they can see is next door, they’ll not be encouraged to come and have a look either.
I think streetview is great, and i would laugh at anybody who argues that they should have their house taken off… Because now it just means that people can see your house from their computer, rather than being on your street. Its no different and wont change anything for the worse.
Given that we’ve already had gangs from Liverpool coming to steal more expensive cars anyway making their life much easier will increase the number they can target and steal without being noticed. “They” are thieves from other areas who currently don’t steal all that much because they have to put in the effort of coming here to case everything out on foot / by car.
Maybe if you lived on a quiet street where everyone parks on their drives and has good cars you’d realise why. People don’t generally walk or drive down unless they are in the area for a good reason. Fair enough if you’re on a commuter route it probably won’t make a difference. But in quieter places it will. And the fact that Leonard Dews has been robbed four times violently and the one time the thieves were caught they were found to have come from Estonia just shows how publishing these images can be very helpful to criminals whilst the police sit in Blackpool every evening and lunchtime whilst our local stations are closed.
I wonder just how much it cost us the public, in the addition waste disposal requirement costs, due the food we all throw away having bought too much food, because of the 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 type sales practices employed by the likes of Morrisons/Tesco.
I personally have stopped buying food items where the price of one item is set unreasonably high to force you to buy two, even if it causes me additional work to buy the one item elsewhere.
Also consider the huge cost to both us and the environment of the unnecessary packaging used.
Hopefully the public will wake up to these cons soon, and maybe people power will eventually force these food giants to play fail. “probably never happen though”

You’ll kick yourself
It’s the spelling of “soar” or “sore” as the Gazette spells it Frustrated.
Looks like the Gazette reads this site as the spelling cock-up has been swiftly reverted.
Aye well the evidence is there for all to see – lol.
That was a fast correction. I shouldn’t in retrospect have thought the facts were wrong – as this was probably written for them by Morrisons.
Ah – too busy thinking they hadn’t got their facts straight (can’t think why..)
Should have read the title for a clue!
Can’t understand how they could get that wrong, but maybe that’s what happens when you have journalists typing directly into live copy.

Or even biggot. I think I need to get back to bed today. Anyone else trying to get their house removed from Google Streetview by the way?
No why do you want to remove it, you will make your house stand out more by removing it.

To be honest Frustrated, if they want to steal a car they will do it anyway just as they do already sadly.
who is “they”?
