I guess this isn’t news, but I thought you might like to be aware of a Taxpayers’ Alliance report that shows the salaries and pay rises handed to top council officials.
David Lund, who is the Executive Director for Childrens services, saw fit to award himself a 12% pay rise in 2009, taking his already monster pay package from £104,691 to £117,151 – a rise of £12,461.
The almighty Steve Weaver also awarded himself a giant pay rise of £9,186, equating to 6.6%. This took his salary of £140,103 up to a blockbuster £149,289 (just shy of £3,000 a week).

It is disgusting these jobsworths are paying themselves so much when council workers lower down the ladder are facing cuts. It should be the ivory tower jobsworths taking cuts. Steve Weaver is not worth a penny of his obscene salary. What annoys me the most though is that he can’t be removed. If you don’t like a Council Leader (who DON’T get paid as some wrongly think) you vote them out. But with Blackpool hating jobsworths like Weaver and Cavill there is no accountability for their incompetence and they can’t be removed.

Councillors don’t get a salary they simply get allowances and the council leader get’s a wee bit extra, which technically should be spent on council business. But they don’t get paid a salary like the massive salary MPs get.
