Today we are less than 4 weeks away from the General Election and we have 6 candidates for Blackpool South yet I have not seen ONE single campaign leaflet or manifesto. It feels like there is no election. I would have thought at this crucial stage the candidates would be desperately pitching for our votes, well they’re not trying very hard.

Come on candidates even the two who I can’t stand (they know who they are) I want to see some material. Reading the manifestos is part of the fun.

  1. Well said. The BBC North West are doing a feature this week on Blackpool and how it is a crucial area for swinging the votes. They said its something like the ninth highest priority in the North West.
I live in Blackpool South and have yet to see any information.

    • Precisely, I must watch BBC NW if Blackpool is on there. If we are a key seat then great this could be an interesting election.

      • I have seen noone, except leaflets from the BNP first then labour, nothing else yet.

Do they want our votes or not?

I have been told there have been plackards/billboards near the A585 for Paul Maynard.

        • I have seen a few Ron Bell posters on houses on St Annes Rd and Cherry Tree Rd and Marsden’s Blackpool ‘home’ on Highfield Rd is plastered with ‘Vote Labour’ posters but comically there is a ‘Vote BNP’ poster in the house across the road. But other than that nobody is really taking any notice.

            • Integrity UK will have leaflets out there delivered by the Royal Mail if all goes according to plan, I have ordered 42,500 for Blackpool South.

There will be some garden boards available for any of you guys who want to be associated with the upstarts who think we can play with the big boys.

If you want a board, give me a ring 724016 or email me info@integrityuk.info

  2. Blackpool North & Cleveleys is the swing seat! Blackpool South is a dead cert to remain Labour.

  3. As you know, I’ve had a Ron Bell one but none of the others. I have to say I can’t ever remember getting a Labour one, and what is Doreen Holt playing at?

The Tory candidate commits political suicide and nobody capitalises on it! Perhaps it’s resignation that Mr Marsden is going to walk it.

    • Good point, I can certainly say Hamish won’t even come close, I reckon he will give UKIP their lowest every vote share in Blackpool South. I wouldn’t say it is a dead cert for Marsden. Why anyone wants him as MP baffles me, he shows no committment to Blackpool, has never even lived here and has done nothing for our town. Also Brown’s negative campaigning at the Labour manifesto launch today on BBC News just reminded me why I hate Liebour so much. If you care about Blackpool and the country LABOUR OUT 2010 MARSDEN OUT 2010, Blackpool deserves better.

      • All Labour can do is negative campaign, because they have NOTHING to show for their 13 year tenure but failure.

        • Exactly, spot on Phil. I think negative campaigning is so off-putting. I want to hear why I should vote for Party X not some selective reasons why I shouldn’t vote Party Y because of what they supposedly did 20/30 years ago. It is perfectly acceptable for opposition parties to criticise Labour now because Labour has been in power for 13 years but I am more interested in what they will do better than Labour. I have seen enough to know Labour is bad for Britain, I want to know who will better them.

          • True, but we’ve both said that we’d only vote Bell because Marsden’s so bad, so isn’t that the same as negative campaigning?

            • You’ve got a point there actually. Tactical voting is technically negative campaigning. Its like Andrew Adonis is going around telling Lib Dem voters to vote Labour to keep the Tories out in marginals, this is why I fear a Hung Parliament. I just know the Lib Dems would team up with Labour meaning we have a left-wing coalition, about as bad as it gets.

    • I agree its all lies but here in Blackpool South we are long overdue a change, we have been shat on for too long anything is better than Liebour. But I wish my letter box was full of them. I especially look forward to the UKIP leaflet watching Hamish pretending he is a UKIP politician, I am not convinced for a second he believes in UKIP at all, it is all just a big stunt. Marsden’s leaflet will just be full of anti-Tory slurs. So the only leaflets worth reading are Dr Tun, Ron Bell, Roy Goodwin and Doreen Holt.

      • Ron Bell’s is a pile of hypocritical manure. He talks about not wanting Kensington to build on the Moss and how he wants to discourage rapid urbanisation.

        His actions suggest otherwise.

  5. There are at least two leaflets for Doreen. I know that for a fact because I designed them! Phil may have a point when he says there is some resignation that Marsden has it in the bag. However, the electorate don’t like being taken for granted! You have to fight for your votes.

As for the negative campaigning, Cameron is one channel slagging Labour for negative campaigning whilst on the other channel is Labours Manifesto launch with loads of tory mobile advertising hoardings slagging Gordon Brown off circling the venue. Hypocrites the pair of them.

The bottom line is that negative campaigning works! So the politicians will carry on doing it!

  8. Its pretty much the same here in Blackpool South, I have had one leaflet from the Conservatives and I have seen quite a few Conservative billboards/posters around but Liebour don’t even seem to be bothering. I have had nothing off Labour, Liberal Democrats or UKIP or Integrity. I can’t wait to read the UKIP one, I need a good laugh. I read Hamish’s profile on UKIP today and it is a complete contradiction of terms and proves what I have said all along. Hamish is NOT and never has been right-wing, he has only joined UKIP because of his small-minded obsession with the smoking ban. He even says on his profile I am a Christian Socialist. Socialists don’t join UKIP, they are two very different things. Its like me a right-wing Conservative joining the Labour Party. It just gets more laughable by the day, UKIP are on a slippery slope they lost my vote a long way back,
