In a news splurge last night it was revealed that Gordon would be off to visit Her Majesty this morning to dissolve Parliament and call the general election, and the Daily Fail is reporting that he is, as I write this, at Buckingham Palace doing just that.

He is apparently due to announce the election date of May 6th in a press conference at 10:30 this morning.

The battle lines haven’t really been drawn yet aside from a tit for tat Chancellors’ debate, and I’ve yet to receive any political literature through my door at all. I am hoping for an explosion of activity in the run up to the election and I look forward to seeing the different approaches employed by the various PPCs in trying to win our votes.

If you get any leaflets or even a visit from your PPCs, I would love to hear about it.

  1. I wont be watching the TV debates; waste of time as it the usual 3 in 1 inept vacuous parties, why not have UKIP on?

    • I agree the platform should be opened for other parties but I am sorry to say UKIP are nothing short of a joke at the moment with some of these idiots they are forcing on the party.

  2. Agree about the current state of UKIP. Watched Lord Pearson bumbling through an interview on BBC News tonight and it was almost embarrassing for the old boy. Shame too as I think Nigel Farage is fantastic.

A messed up UKIP can only be good news for the Conservatives though as it would have been UKIP perhaps who would have taken votes away from them.

Its just a shame that it’s going to take around a 10% lead for the Tories to get the majority they need as I dont think it’s doable at present.

Says it all about Labour that at the minute they cant provide a single reason to vote for them, other than they’re not the Tories.

If the Tories have got any sense they’ll focus all their efforts on the complete failings of Gordon Brown as a PM. I only wish somebody in Rochester fancied egging the twat when he was in the Supermarket today.

This country simply cannot deal with 5 more years of that buffoon in charge.

    • Well said JR, just go on the LEP website if you want a laugh, about 90% of comments on there today are saying ‘vote Labour’, why are people so gullible. Why do people just selectively ignore the damage they have done in the last 13 years? Why can’t people think about who they vote for.

    • If there were ever a time for a new politics this is it and UKIP offered it,it distresses me to hear of this mad waste of an opportunity.

Wake up UKIP, your hour cometh!

      • It pains me so much because I am a right-leaning voter and as Steven Bate says in his latest broadcast centre right voters like me are stuck in the shit; I am not backing UKIP, a vote for them is a vote for Hamish and a vote for the evil tobacco industry, our Conservative candidate is tarnished (but probably the safest tactical vote to get Marsden out) and so Dr Tun is looking an increasingly attractive choice; local, a GP (pillar of the community), popular locally and standing for Integrity. His constant switching of parties is a wee bit dubious but I can forgive that.

  3. A vote for UKIP might as well be a vote for Labour at the moment though. The Conservatives need at least 10% MORE votes than Labour to get a majority because the system’s so set-up to give Labour an advantage. You might not like Cameron (I know how you feel), but do you want Gordon instead? If you don’t vote Conservative no matter how horrible the candidate you can get Grinning Gord in again Lord help us. Now’s not the time to protest vote – a hung parliament means a Labour government supported by Plaid Cymru and the SNP whose support will be bought with English taxpayer’s cash.

    • The thing I dread with a Hung Parliament is the Lib Dems teaming up with Liebour forming a left-wing coalition, that would be hell on earth. I agree with Frustrated, I am still considering a protest vote for Integrity but more than anything I want an MP that cares about Blackpool. Out of the candidates on principle Dr Tun is probably the best man for the job but does he have a chance against the major parties.
