Well well well, reports have emerged today that Councillor David Eaves JP of Ansdell ward is to become the next leader of the Fylde Politbüro. He replaces the outgoing Commissar John Coombes, who quit “to spend more time with his family” after single-handedly signing Fylde up to the new Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company (EDC).
I don’t know much about Eaves other than he worked at Blackpool Transport all his life and ended up being one of the honchos that was implicated by Stephen Pierre’s much-publicised dossier on the death of his dad, Darrell Pierre. One presumes that Counterbalance, the definitive source of Fylde goings on, will have an all encompassing, all-angles-covered summary of Mr Eaves in due course.
Eaves has placed a short statement on Fylde Borough Council’s website, packed with “challenges” and “difficult decisions”. He also says he will deal with councillors of any persuasion and hopes to involve politicians from every colour of the rainbow in local decision making. Where’ve we heard that before, boys and girls? Should we Call You Dave as well, Eaves?
In a moment of profound sagacity, Eaves said;
“I don’t hold the monopoly on wisdom”
It was forecast that Councillor Karen Buckley would be a like-for-like replacement for the outgoing Mr Coombes, however she quit her job as a solicitor to contest Hyndburn for the Conservatives in the General Election. She failed to win the seat, and so one presumes she will be back to the small time.
Eaves promises to maintain the status quo, though.
“Fylde Council is well known for its high quality of debate and that will continue under my leadership.”
It’s known for a lot of other things as well, Dave, and most of them involve piss poor management, hidden agendas and public swimming baths.
Still, Dave doesn’t have a track record that I know about so we will have to see how he does.

UN ambassador Susan Rice said: “We have taken the view in this and other circumstances that it is preferable to work from within to shape and reform a body with the importance and potential of the Human Rights Council.”

UPDATE: You will not be suprised to learn that Tony Depledge has chosen not to respond to my request for a formal interview with my solicitor. Arriva solicitors have previously stated that “my pursuit really ought to be Blackpool Council” Depledge and his associate David Eaves are remaining silent! why? because they are clearly conscious and responsible for one of the worst cover ups in Public Transport history. Many Arriva staff and Croydon Tram drivers have found this story shocking!! I have since learned that Blackpool Police undertook a thorough criminal theory investigation as to why the two trams ploughed into each other. How were the points moved? BCT tried to say it was a vandal! Of course the Police would have formally interviewed the last crew who used the points. My contact at Met Police has also stated that the Police would have taken the points bar away for analysis. The chemical lab testing would have identified without any doubt the uppermost finger prints on the handle of the bar. It seems likely that the Police did their home work and the BCT bosses chose to ignore it and secretly ‘brushed it under the carpet’ It is my view the finger should NOT be pointed at the Police. BCT bosses knew perfectly well who the guard responsible was! Why say the guard could not be tracked down if there was nothing to hide. Did the guard do a runner!! The Police had no involvement in the 1982 hearing as this was not a criminal case, but a civil case bravely fought by my dad. Why did Depledge and Co and the guard not attend the hearing? because it is fair to assume they were GUILTY of a disgraceful cover up. If they want to sue me for this statement I am willing to co-operate and to attend Court. They can equally answer my questions which they have cowardly evaded for the past 9 months! I would much prefer the guard or the crews who were present to come forward and contact me. with their own personal interpretation of events. From the information I have already received it is an overwhelming likelihood the reasons for the SILENCE and cover up came from above. I guess the crews present were placed in a tricky position to say anything. And no doubt for some this has played on their minds for many years. My dad was a good man and did not deserve to be stitched up like this by a sly rotten coward such as Depledge. What is no secret this episode has been kept TOP SECRET for years! If Depledge and Co think they can brush this matter under the carpet for another 28 years they can dream on!! I do not care who they are or what privileged position in life they may be at. They owe our family an explanation and an apology. The public are fed up of cover ups and it is about time they came of their thrones and Publically apologise for wrongly making my dad the victim of a disgraceful cover up. My dad was clearly wronged by BCT bosses. I am tempted to use stronger language but I made a sincere promise to him that my investigation and campaign would be conducted in a respectful manner and I do not wish to participate in underhand behavior like they did. Shortly after my dad finally retired from Blackpool Transport on ill health grounds, I was travelling with him on a bus from Victoria Hospital, a journey he made regularly. Around the Newton Drive area David Eaves boarded the bus, although my dad acknowledged him I sensed an embarrassed uncomfortable ‘air’ about him and my insticnt told me that Mr Eaves had a few unanswered questions on his chest. Mr Eaves was never quite the same man when Tony Depledge left Blackpool Transport. One would have thought with his many years of expereince he would have walked into the job as MD. He did not May be he did not want it? Although David Eaves was put through the bus driving school he did not hold any ‘hands on’ bus or tram driving experience. Over the past 12 months I have received numerous tales about David Eaves in fairness good and bad. However I can tell you on good authority one former BCT/BTS employee gave up his tram driving dutties to work full time in the BTS offices in the mid 1980′s. This guy was a smartly dressed articulate man who poineered the introduction of the Blackpool Travel card. At the time many travel firms had passes but Blackpool did not. This guy generated over a million pounds a year banked revenue business for BTS and developed a portfolio of sales outlets with hotels shops etc. Did this guy get any thanks or grattidue for his endeavours. He worked around the clock and took pride in the book keeping and admin of the travel cards. As this guy was similar to my dad an innofensive gentlemen he was intimidated by David Eaves and was forced to take early retirement. Mr Eaves also aked this guy to undertake other practices which were considered questionable and this guy being a lawful individual took wise advice from a Policemen and refused. This guy could no longer take the presuure of being in the presence of David Eaves and reluctantly was forced to take early retirement as he feared the stress would give him a heart condition or depression. It is not for me to cast aspertions against David Eaves other than he was part of the management team at Blackpool Corporation Transport who covered up the biggest head-on tram collsion in history. As the Fylde Borough Council Leader I feel it is only fit and proper he has the dignity to Publically apologise for the ‘investigation’ and the way Darrell Pierre was wrongly made a scapgoat. I know Mr Eaves is a well connected man and in equal measure I wish him well with his position .
