The Gazette released the results of its reader panel election poll today and the Conservatives have a 17% lead over Labour. That’s what I want to see. I have had my doubts but I am slowly gaining confidence Marsden will be on the last train to Brighton on Friday (if he’s even in Blackpool)

Yeah I saw it but bear in mind that that result includes Fylde which is the second safest Tory seat in the UK (Tory Mark Menzies is 200/1 on to get the seat).
The article did say that Blackpool North and South were too close to call.

Good point, I am quite confident Paul Maynard has a very very good chance in Blackpool North, god help Blackpool N and Cleveleys if that Labour sheep Martin gets elected and moreso god help Blackpool South if Marsden gets back in.

I can live with a hung parliament as long as Nick Clegg doesn’t side with Liebour. A Lib Dem-Labour coalition is the worst result imaginable as an outright Liebour majority is out of the question. It would be bad for the economy and country. This is the reason Brown is sucking up the Lib Dems, so Clegg will form a Lib Dem-Labour coaltion.

Same here Harold, but we will go that way if Labour get back in. But what pisses me off is that if there is a Conservative Government they will have to make tough but necessary and sensible decisions and people will whinge and moan and vote Labour back in at the next election to let them wreck the economy all over again. Trouble is you can’t have it all ways. Greece is fucked because of excessive public sector pay/pensions/perks.
They have no choice but to cut these because the IMF wont give them the money if they don’t.
And the people are rioting because they don’t like the austerity measures. It’s a no-win situation, which suggests that public sector spending needs to be controlled in the UK immediately else we could well be on the same path. But that of course means jobs in Blackpool could be under threat. There has been talk of moving Whitehall civil servants up here so perhaps whatever ends up being cut will be replaced.
Spain are next in line for this implosion, and they are simply too big to bail out. But you know what, their deficit is less than ours, and we are saved from the bankruptcy hit-list only by the fact that our economy is better than theirs and that there is more growth potential.
