Clamping extortion to be capped

Apparently there is a war on Blackpool’s clampers today as  a proposed amendment to the Crime and Security Bill was highlighted. Release fees are to be capped and new routes for challenging fines are to be opened.

I’m not sure why Blackpool has been highlighted by the Gasjet given that this bill applies everywhere, but like anyone I am in favour of its implementation.

The Palace Nightclub Reopens (sort of)

Apologies for the misleading headline, that was just a swipe at the sensationalist journalism of the Gazette. But as announced in Friday’s Gazette there is a very interesting plan for the former Palace nightclub.

I feel this is just the sort of establishment that Blackpool so desperately needs, it is just the sort of place I have been longing for in this area and it definitely somewhere I would use.

TV Debates Bring it On

The proposed upcoming TV debates between the 3 leaders; Brown, Cameron and Clegg have just become even more interesting. For one thing I am very glad to see they are all being held outside London, a point brilliantly put by Carol Vorderman on Question Time.

But the most interesting thing is that there is a strict set of rules in place for the 3 leaders and audience. The audience is being selected from voters of parties, floating voters and non-voters. The audience have been told no heckling or jeering.

PCSO, Camera, Action (under section 44 of the Terrorism Act)

Have a look at this, it’ll get your blood boiling at the fucking disgrace of a police force we’ve got in the UK.

It’s a video made by art student Simona Bonomo of some buildings in London. She was then apprehended by a gum-chewing PCSO who tried to label her as a terrorist because she didn’t give what he deemed to be a valid reason for filming some buildings. He was determined to disbelieve anything she said and eventually booked her for cycling the wrong way down a road.

Modern day mystery

Here’s one for you to think about over the weekend.

Why are so many furniture shops named with three letter acronyms? We’ve got DFS, CSL, SCS and I spotted a HFS on Talbot Road just now.

Answers on a postcard..

Nae progress here son

In a world…of sterling blogging…

Ok, enough of that.

Mr. Euginedes has uncovered another “you couldn’t make it up” gem that will leave even the most open minded person facepalming.

We’ve all moaned about trains running (or not) on time, but workers at the aptly named ScotRail can’t even get their strikes to run on time. Even more amazing is the reason for the strike. Go on, let your mind wander a bit. What could it be this time?

Speeding is good: 99.8% of coppers agree

I’m not really surprised by this but it came out two days ago that out of 88,536 incidents of police officers caught speeding on duty last year only 153 were prosecuted. And these were only the ones caught on camera.

If there was ever any doubt that the police service is a self-serving old boy’s club, this is it.
