THE BIG switch-on seemed to go down with a bang on Friday with Robbie Williams declaring his undying love for Blackpool before flicking the magic switch and lighting up the town’s Illuminations show.
I wish to apologise profusely for saying that Peter Callow used first class rail on the taxpayer and visited his daughter in London.
It was wrong, I should not have said this and regret doing so.
If nothing else, Cllr Maxine Callow will not be remembered for her quotes and action relating to trains. Sure, she wants to decimate the Blackpool South line, removing a route used by over 100,000 people per year, but what I’m thinking of in particular is the £285,000 of our money she squandered on Carnesky’s Ghost Train.
We called for it when it was announced, and useless Helen France has duly delivered. Yes, the bidding has begun for a “world class” operator to take control of Blackpool Tower – should the council acquire it. But apparently not the Winter Gardens.
