I started to write about this when I first heard about it in February but never finished the article; yesterday the court found all of the perpetrators guilty so I’ll summarise it now. I know I don’t normally do crime but this is an exception because it’s so horrific.
What corrupts the human condition such that a person is prepared to take a knife, hunt down a target and mutilate, maim or murder them? What causes an innocent baby to transform, years later, into an aggressor with murderous intent?

In a bizarre turn, a horde of 300 people have come out in vocal support of knicker-sniffing former mayor of Preesall, Ian Stafford.
This man – a local handyman by day – was convicted of stealing ladies underwear and wanking himself off with them. And now a group of women want to let him out? The mind boggles.

You know what’s wrong with this parliamentary expenses system?
It’s that once the offending MP gets caught, nothing happens. Their parties don’t disown them, and once they have spewed forth a lame duck apology and perhaps paid back a fraction of the money they have robbed, all is forgotten.

Yesterday I was delighted to hear on the radio that Munir Hussain had had his prison term suspended by an appeal judge who recognised the extreme circumstances and public outcry following his story. His brother Tokeer received a reduction in his sentence to 2 years and remains in jail.
Labour MP Joan Humble has today been awarded a soapbox by the Gasjet and she has used it to publicise the latest Government award of money to the town. The money is supposedly to “tackle antisocial behaviour”. It’s only 40 grand, so it doesn’t even match the amount Joan claims in expenses every year, but money is money.
