Just a quick follow up to my last post about Fylde and Wyre councils implementing the Waste Collector data mining system. I’ve had a look at my wheelie bins in and two of them have RFID chips already implanted. These are the non-recyclable waste (grey) bin and the garden/cardboard waste (green) bin.

The North West Development Agency (NWDA) for anyone not aware is basically an organisation headquartered in Warrington which is charged with distributing funding throughout the North West. But do really need such an expensive ‘middle man’ to perform this function?

In the aftermath of the convenient fire that took out the “for sale” Grand hotel last year, the neighbouring Paris Casino was one of the victims, leaving up to 60 staff out of work.

Blackpool Council executives Julian Kearsley and Steve Pullan have been relieved of their positions and will be leaving their Council offices next month in a blitz of cost cutting.

Steve Weaver will no doubt be extremely pleased as it means he’ll end up getting “more responsibility” which equates to “more money”.

I had to take my girlfriend to the new NHS Primary Care Centre on Whitegate Drive today after she had an accident involving a work Christmas party, lots of alcohol and high heels. I’m sure you can figure the rest, needless to say she has trouble walking at the moment!

It turns out there may have been something behind the recent and sudden shift in timescale for the Government’s proposed anti-file sharing measures.

I may be miles behind on this given that the Sunday Times reported it a few weeks ago, but it appears on the face of it that Handy Mandy is behind it all. According to the ST, Mandelson had dinner with the boss of Dreamworks, David Geffen and the Prince of Darkness returned to press the Government into tougher and more rapid action on blocking file sharing.

Pot, Kettle,...

Apparently Blackpool Council have ordered the car park on Caunce Street/Church Street to smarten itself up within 1 month or be closed down. I know they are on a mission to crush private business owners in Blackpool but as far as I know this car park is newly surfaced, has pay and display machines that actually work and is otherwise unremarkable.
