Right-leaning Blackpool blog covering South Shore, North Shore, Marton, Bispham, Cleveleys and the rest of the Fylde discussing politics, local life, tourism, national issues and the rest of the world. Lively discussions encouraged!
After the disastrous concert at the Winter Gardens the other night I felt inspired to write an article about the Blackpool music scene.
The Winter Gardens [occasionally] hosts some very good bands, I saw the White Stripes there at an excellent gig in 2005 but we seem to lack a regularity in the appearance of these bands.
In another example of the music industry’s rampaging crusade to squeeze cash out of everything that lives and breathes, community groups such as Scouts have been slapped with new rules by the Performing Rights Society that state that they must have a Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) license in order to play music – even at charity events.
